Attendance Procedure Question

I'm a rep and i'd say I was pretty familiar with the attendance procedure (ie the one that can be downloaded on this site).
However I'm sure there was a new section added where you can go straight from a stage 2 back to zero if you have one absence of less than 4 days (or less) during the year.
Anyone confirm, or am I finally going mad?

2. MINIMUM NATIONAL ATTENDANCE STANDARDS - EMPLOYEES NOT ON TRIAL

Employees who have successfully completed their trial period are still required to maintain a high standard of attendance. Attendance may be regarded as warranting formal action if an employee who is not on trial has:

Stage 1: 4 absences or 14 days in a 12 month period

Stage 2: 2 absences or 10 days in any 6 month period during the next 12 months

Stage 3: 2 absences or 10 days in any 6 month period during the next 12 months

1 absence of 4 days or less will mean removal from the procedure.

hmm when did the above come into effect? I assumed that as long as you did'nt trigger a further stage during the 12 months you were on a stage then they removed you from the procedure when the 12 months were up regardless of how many absences you incurred during that same year??

Not true mate. You could be on a stage two, have 9 days off with one sick absence, for example. When your year is up you will be back to a stage one.
1 absence of 4 days (or less) will put you from a 2 (or 1) to zero.

Ah i got you now.

I'm on a stage one at the moment issued last november. I've had 2 absences since, both 6 months apart of less then 9 days each. So come november this year I will be removed from the procedure. If I had been on a stage 2 using the above absences then I would have dropped only a stage (1), whereas 1 absence of 4 days or less would have dropped me 2 stages removing me from the procedure completely.
