Bizzarre Repick

Repick has just begun in our office. Deployment begins on 17th september one post code a month for 5 months. Here are some nonsensical points out of many that are happening.

Strict seniority, but you can drop down if you want to work with a specific person

All current drivers do not start their new walks until after christmas. A reserve (there are none) will apparently cover the drivers P&L duty until then

Those displaced will have to sign for an alternative current walk in another concurrent repick.

Another repick will take place in 6 months when all problems are ironed out

Yet another repick will take place shortly after that due to walk sequencing.


Its common sense that the office should wait for WSMs which are 4 months (allegedly) from delpoyment and have one repick against that but sector manager wants savings NOW!!!

Rep wouldnt allow us to vote yes or no.

We were able to raise concerns but rep said management would bring it in anyway so its been signed off.

A total disgrace!

My understanding was, it's was the members who direct the rep. If the members want a vote that is their right to call for one..

I have to ask why are the members letting this rep get away with not putting the revison to the members in terms of a vote.

Its ok coming on here and complaining but you should first and foremost force the rep to either put the agreement including this resign proposal to the members or flag it up to the Branch , Divison , Regional Secretary or CWU HQs.

Personally it is totally unacceptable under any circumstances that a revison is not ratified by the members.

I anowledge everyone finds it easier to blame someone else for what is happening but this is basic stuff and it would not be acceptable in most offices. I do despair at times why some can come on here and compain and criticise everyone but cant sort something out in their own office.

People can criticise what I say or why I say it but nothing can argue that in London we would not accpet this kind of thing happening.

Surely a local rep failure ; not a CWU failure. I think that Dingo has it right in his last post.

It is still the case that the locals must ensure that they are participating fully with their reps ; and vice versa.

In my 3 and a bit years at RM (on delivery) I still cannot believe how posties will f*ck each other over;ignore any Union advice; cut every corner going; come back early and then moan when told to do more; steal your bags (yet again today)....and I could go on.. But wont.

I even heard one of my workmates complaining that 'xyz' person was a lazy bast*rd' because he had not done his lapsing. How can anyone win?

Maybe I am on a negative today. But sometimes I do despair.

For once I agree entirely with Dingo. The union in each DO, sub office whatever you want to name it, can only ever be as good as the membership. Get off your asses, get a meeting with the rep. Get a vote on how you wish to proceed. If it,s go to disagreement, then you tell him that this is the way the membership wish to proceed. He has no choice in the matter, you are the decision makers. You will only arrive at an acceptable agreement if you all have the balls to do something about it. Your rep may be in bed with the management, but he cannot act alone. He will however if you do not stand up and be counted.

I expect the CWU to at least be on the ball enough to allow the members to vote on the revision.

Fact is the revision has taken 2 years and it was coming in with or without members ratification. FACT.

Office moaner no. Worried about the way the union is being pressured by management to make savings yes.
