One of our 3 managerial staff recently came back to being a postman, we have been park n loopy for 5 months and he has towed the company line ie all these rounds should be done within the alloted time etc etc anyway this manager did the round on a mon and tue which were both fairly light, then half way round on the wed his work mate comes back to the van and finds him sat with his head in his hands saying i cant walk anymore my feet are killing me, Then he rings his mate the manager back at the D.O who sends out 2 people to do his half and let the other bloke get on with his bit, then he goes sick,but we are told he had a couple of days booked off (not on the holiday sheet)and then he comes back as a manager,what a joke Since this has happened he was at first more understanding about cut offs but has slipped back into his old ways,but he is coming back as a postman again in a few weeks and i cant wait to see his face after a week in fact i wish i was partnered up with him lol

Please explain how this guy can move from Manager to Postie seemly at will? He's obviously not a postie that's just helping the DIM out.
I presume if he's a Manager that's "Lost" his job he wouldn't be able to just slip back into Management.
Goes back to previous posts about every Manager needing practical experience of the job before being given a desk to fly! Forces doctrine advocates: "Never ask anyone to do a job that you are not capable of doing yourself"

the junior or deputy managers dont hold a full managers position
they get paid extra for doing the managerial roll but are still OPGs
Cheers Custard. I've bumped into a few of them in my time, and to be honest they normally do a better job than the Manager as they apply practical knowledge and experience in a common sense manner. I believe they are also less prone to the "Bonus" culture and will often "Allow" overtime to get a job done (which they know is justified) whereas the DIM will try and bluff it.
The original post though seemed to indicate someone that had been a Manager for some time and it appeared as quite a shock to be asked to actually deliver the mail. Poor Dear.

Hi D plodder you might even know him this is happening in dorset,he was a line manager in poole for about a year then went to weymouth office for 8 months approx then he told his bosses he wanted to come back to poole as a postman but since he has been back as only done 2 1/2 days and we have 2 managers already it seems as though they have invented a job for him

No Names..No Packdrill..Dogsbody! I hear Weymouth is struggling at the moment asking for extra staff to help out etc. It's a fairly big DO used to have over 100 walks pre-revision but I understand they went into HCTs in a BIG way and it doesn't seem to work.
Mind you they wouldn't have wanted any more vans there was only 4 (yes that's FOUR) parking spaces at the DO, and they must have had at least 40 vans!
Not surprised if they've "Invented" a job for your Postie/Manager, normally a case of "If your face fits..."
