1- You should know the walk after 3 months - in fact to have your own walk after only 3 months is very lucky.
2- Don't know your weight before you started so not sure whether that's good or bad.
3- Not sure what you're on about there. Do you mean you're pushing too much weight around in your trolley - if so then don't. You're under no obligation to do so. Check what the weight limits are for your delivery method (pouch, LWT or HCT) and stick below them.
4 - Stick at the job for as long as those old guys have and you'll be able to get the better duties. It's one of the few rewards for long and loyal service, and justly deserved.
i find it so anoying when i hav to walk fast to my destination 15min walk from the office in the morning. on my way i see older posties laughing and joking talking about football walking slowly

Why? You don't have to rush anywhere.
If you're willing to rush around like a madman in order to get your delivery finished on time then more fool you. Do the job safely and in line with how it's supposed to be done. Use all the equipment provided and never carry overweight bags etc. In fact if you're given a trolley never carry bags at all!
If by doing this you can't complete your delivery on time then let your manager know - it's up to him or her to sort it.
Slow down, you're going to do yourself an injury.
Also the weight limit for an HTC is the max you can take, not a must, take what you feel comfortable with.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
Wait until the mail gets heavy starting next month. You've been in the job 3 months and have only seen the 'light' time of year. Now you know your 'walk' inside out be prepared to get moved, they tend to leave new starts on the same walk for a while to learn the ropes. You need to slow down and do the job by the book
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
but if u saw the walk i do its not possible to walk slow and finish on time
i do claim OT on heavy days though
most days i come back sweating
I'm not saying walk slow - walk at a comfortable pace and certainly don't rush round.
The only obligation you have is to work your hours. If you can't complete your duty on time without rushing around then there's a workload issue. That's for the managers to solve - not for you to run around risking your safety to cover it up.
As previously said, you are very lucky you have your own walk. For my first 3 months I did the same walk no more than 4 times, must have done over 30 different walks in different post code areas too....most of them the shitty ones no 1 wants to do.
But then again, I presume you get the feeling if you kick up a stink about your weights/volumes of mail, then you will get shafted to being a Reserve great fun
