Transfers what a joke!

On HR list for a transfer and I put down willing to work within 20 miles of an office on a PT hours
Been ringing up local officees and the office where I am now living speak to the manager and tells me they are running with 4 vacancies and have a few under preforming temp contracts and he really needs staff, gives him my details and he puts a request in to my old manager he oks and sends me a confirmation via email.
2 hours later the Dom at the new office rings me to tell me its ben knocked back and theres nothing more he can do but will be in touch if anything changes.
Pretty miffed as I am on special leave without pay untill I get sorted to make matters worse I go on the RM website for jobs and they are advertising for temp contracts(24hrs) in an office 12 miles away.Get on the phone to HR and say whats going on and they tell me because I am on a fixed contract i can not apply for the temp contract even though I am willing to take the risk :shock:

To say i am peeved off is an understatemant!

Who should I be talking to?

Can't you just apply for one of the 24 hr contracts?

I'm right in thinking you keep your seniority if you leave and return within certain time frame right?

Hr have said if you want a temporay contract you have to leave Royal Mail :shock: then reapply but I took a buy down 2 months ago and if I leave the buisness I have to pay back the lump sum :roll:

Good luck with getting a transfer, a guy in my office has been trying for 2 years. He married a couple of years ago and now lives 40 miles away from our office, 400 miles a week in fuel money :crazy:

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

How far is your new home to current job ? and try to find out if there is someone in the same boat in this location. Then do a job swap

I am on special leave as my partner and daughter are living 140 miles away and its school holidays and was told there would be no problems getting a transfer this was near on 4 months ago.House is now sold so would have been homeless told I would not get a transfer unlesss I changed from FT to PT which i have done now goal posts keep getting changed.
Only advice i have been given by the cwu is go sick with stress :shock:
area is going through the new delivery methods revision so nobody will commit to given me a job even a 25 hr contract!
