Told to leave mail

Post by Huxon »

We have had our revision and loads of walks are failing, by over 2 hours in some cases. So lots of cut offs every day.

Management are now saying there are to many cut offs and we are being told to take the whole round but leave mail sort and only take second class if you have more than one letter.

My question is are they allowed to do this?

This has been going on in our office even before the revision. We would be told by the dom that o/t would not be paid,if we felt that we could'nt complete we were to speak to him before bundling up. He would tell us to cull mailsort and/or 2nd class. I once asked him what to if these measures weren't enough, he told me to cull 1st class also!
It seemed that all he was concerned about was that we "covered the ground". In other words that we were seen to be completing our rounds, whether we were delivering anything or not appeared to be irrelevant.

I'm pretty sure they can do this temporarily. Willful Delay is only willful if there is a viable option, other than that it is a mail management issue.

streaming or skimming is a big no-no.

get onto your rep, or area rep or email bob gibson.

the revision is failing for a reason and streaming is not a solution.

This Speak Up webpage is hosted on InTouch’s secure server and is not part of the Royal Mail external website or intranet.

Reporting your concern

Speak Up is a web-based confidential reporting service operated by InTouch, an external and independent company. Royal Mail subscribes to this service so that you have a secure way to report in confidence - and anonymously if you wish - genuine concerns about actual or suspected misconduct, malpractice, illegal or unethical behaviour in the workplace, and which you are uncomfortable about raising through your line manager.

If your concern relates to your terms and conditions of employment or is a disciplinary or grievance matter then you should follow the established policies already in place at Royal Mail and not make a report via this site.

If your concerns relate more to bullying or harassment by someone in the workplace you should initially raise the issue with a manager who you feel you can confide in.

If this is not possible, or the situation is particularly serious, you should contact the Bullying and Harassment Helpline on 0800 5874777.

If your call relates to a security matter you may wish to contact the Security Helpdesk on 020 7239 6655.

If you leave a message using this webpage it will be forwarded promptly to the Royal Mail Speak Up Team who will investigate and act on the information in the most appropriate way. Neither your email address nor your IP address is captured and reports submitted via this service remain fully confidential unless you indicate otherwise.

When you use this service you will be given a unique case number and password. You will need these to access a response from Royal Mail or to leave further information about what you have reported.

To help investigate your concern fully, please try and be as specific as possible about, for example, when and where something happened and if anyone else was involved or is aware of it.

Remaining anonymous
Although you may file a report anonymously, we encourage you to provide your name and contact information as remaining anonymous might hamper Royal Mail’s ability to conduct a thorough investigation into your concerns. If you give your name your identity will be treated as confidential by Royal Mail and won’t be disclosed to anyone outside of the Speak Up team without your permission.

When checking back or wishing to leave further information for an incident you have reported, you will need to enter the Case Number and Password given to you when sending your original message. The Royal Mail Speak Up Team will normally acknowledge receipt of the details of your call within 15 working days, and will where appropriate also provide subsequent feedback, or if necessary ask for additional information about what you have reported.

Once any item of mail reaches the inward MC then it becomes first class, there is no such thing as second class from Inward MCs onwards

Sounds like a right shambles, mate. Oh, well.....never mind......Soon be autumn, then the REAL fun and games will begin.

As to your question. A better example of wilful delay would be hard to come by, and that is what your management are doing, wilfuly delaying the mail, end of.

It is Harry...because there is never any attempt or intention to deliver it.
It's one thing failing part of a walk because you can't get someone to deliver it,it's a whole different game deciding what will be delivered and what won't...that's exactly why management were told, even by their own side to cut it out.

i was dismissed for wilful delay because it is when it suits .Its always wilful if you have a grievance in against a Bullying DOM .And the lengths they go to fabricate evidence is quite amazing believe me. :evil/mad

im off sick at the mo, but some of the lads have told me that on friday at our office, that the dom told them to cut off from boxing in their mail at 8.50am no matter how much was left, as it was IMPERITIVE that the lapsing had to be done. so this was done. in other words there was thousands of items of mail left lying all over the office just so it could be said that the lapsing had been done. i doubt very much that the doms managers have been told about this, so they will get the impression that everything is tickety boo. they would have been told that the lapsing was done, but not of the thousands of other mail in general failing. this will of course make them think the whole system is working. somethings got to be done about this. its being blocked from reaching the heirarchy, so it will continue.

Your rep or one of you has to flag it to your area rep,and has to be flagged everytime it gets done.
Mail is being wilfully delayed by management in the interest of saving hrs(the lapsing).

To be fair,if you guys had balls you could of had a sit in because of it.

apparent the area rep HAS been told, and he, 'looking' at it. he said he,s goin to inform ***** ****** who is our doms gaffer, but to be honest, i think that is like pissing in the wind, because the dom is his gaffers blue eyed boy. the dsm thinks he,s the best manager he,s had in a long time and can sort out any problematic offices(hatchet man). thing is though HE,S NOT. he,s falsifying figures each week. lying bout failures, d2d returns etc, and this latest fiasco proves he thinks he,s untouchable.
