Hi Everyone .....
Just thought i'd be interested in how many of you,are missing out on being able to watch and support your favourite football or rugby team,on a saturday afternoon given our saturday hours have increased?
I had been a season ticket holder for 8 years,at my local football team.
But their was no point paying for it,knowing full well that I had little or no chance of making the kick offs ...
Given the amount of postman up and down the country that USED to attend sporting functions on a saturday afternoon,this should be a large thread.

I think you've got no one else to blame for yourself for being sad about missing out on football. How dare you or anyone else have a life outside of Royal Mail? dont you know that your life and everyone elses life should revolve around the company :-s and you're not allowed to have a life outside Royal Mail.

But being serious I think it sucks that people are having to miss out on something they enjoy and something they do to relax and let some stress out, I know it's not the most mentally taxing job in the world but it's a very physically demanding job and although the job isnt stressfull on it's own it's made stressfull by managers. What makes the longer hours on a saturday even more of a joke is that it doesnt benefit the customers so it's not as if the service they are getting has improved.
I know the union will say "it's protecting jobs" but what about the working conditions of the people who are there? as someone from another office said to me when I was talking to him a few weeks ago, Would you turn round to people who work in sweatshops and say think yourself lucky at least you have a job? I know you can't really compare the two but I think he made a good point. It's all well and good protecting jobs but what about the conditions we are left to work in.

On the plus side,you'd still have to pay £3.00 ish,for a programme,and whatever they charge now for a cuppa and/or a pie ...

probably same at ours but as they only release us at 0945 on a Saturday we are unable to confirm unless the bus is late.

the company is going backwards the only way foward is to get rid of Sats rotate callers ofice and couple of drivers pay it at s/a rate let the rest of us have a bit of life.Got dismissed miss the lads and the crack luv me weekends though

Certainly an advantage here in jockland not getting to the football.........................because all the teams are SHYTE and the standard is on a par with Royal Fail so you know how high that is. : whistle

Just back from a bar-b-que and someone still can't believe that RM deliver mail on a Saturday. I informed him its only getting worse. Actually the guy lives in Canada, i should have asked how their postal service was. I'm assuming they don't work on Saturdays.

although saturday was deliberately made to be a heavy day thats to dsa(which is first class) bullshit.
