If a special delivery is sent at approx 5.25pm from a post office will/should it still arrive the next day or is there a cut off time?

Last collection is the cut off time (or 15 minutes before that) I can't remember from my time on collections.

Not necessarily. A few of our POs have 17:00 finals but the final on the box outside is 18:30. The final collection times from the counter should be on display anyway.

I was told it was 10 mins before time shown on the box.

guys - if it's a special delivery, the post box time is irrelevant - special delivery items would not normally be found in postboxes would they? they're special and are handled via the counter and the collector etc.

If the last collection time of the counter has not lapsed before 5.25pm, it'd be picked up the same day, but if it's passed - it'll be the following working day. The receipt as someone has already said will give the answer.

Post Office lady told me to have it guaranteed next day delivery - it has to be posted by 2.30pm.

It could well be 2:30pm coming from Scotland after all it is a guaranteed service, not a miracle service.

but in that context it's the last collection from that Post Office counter not the last collection from the box outside, and there might be a difference.
