A girl from our office had an AOD last year and missed 5 months of work,
on returning she was given a stage 1 warning even though it was an AOD, RM are saying nothing actually happened to cause the accident (she was told to carry a heavy bag 15kg up a steep hill even though she informed the manager that she could not lift it before she left the office as her back was sore from aprevious accident) and that accidents are only normally discounted. She appealed against the decision via the grievance procedure as she felt it should not of being issused only to be told by another manager at stage 2 that they were upholding the original decision. She then appealed against it again trying to take it to stage 3 only for the 2nd manager to say that he never recieved the appeal forms back.
This is were it gets interesting, she got another stage 3 grievance form from the manager and sent it straight to Rugby House as she was not happy and got a reply back within 2 days telling her that the decision that had been made was final as she could not appeal against a stage 1 warning for attendance and can only appeal at stage 3.
Can anyone offer any advice on how to progress this further?

Re: management still playing games
Very confusing, but they are right unfortunately stage 1 and 2 of the ABSENCE procedure is not open to appeal, only stage 3. Very frustrating at times as real damage gets done at stage 1 or 2, BUT if anything ever gets to stage 3 a good appeals rep will rip stage 1 and 2 apart if there are any problems.trouble wrote:A girl from our office had an AOD last year and missed 5 months of work,
