Size of packets for the van ?

I am a little sick or arrogant drivers not taking big packets we place on the york !

I have asked a manager for the exact size of packets for the van & he circumvent for question several times informing me he has placed an order for a template .

Does anyone know the sizes required for officially going on the van ?
have they got to be as specific box type, the reason I ask this is for the very large Amazon one or maybe even contact lenses as both keep hitting your arm whilst sticking out of the bag ?

It depends on a lot of things such as trolleys or bike etc. An old scale was a parcel shoe box size or over should go out. Its down to your dom really and if in doubt ask him to sign the packet before you put it in the york.

Tbh basing it on strict size rules is bollocks. What happens if you have 5 packets for the same bag, all only just smaller than the template?

It should be down to common sense, if it fits in the bag it goes.

Good job you're not in our office, we're on P&L now and take all packets/tracked/specials etc - this morning leant on the frame next to mine was a packet too big to fit in a combo van, it was 7' long and about 3' around. And you complain about a shoebox

It may be me looking on the dark side but....
99 % of the drivers seem to have a chip on there shoulders & think they are some kind of God ?

When I asked for the template many months ago I was told it was never agreed with the union so I had to take what was in my packet bag; which is great because they're sorted by drivers.

Its that kind of attitude that causes drivers to give you back packets. Make friends with the drivers they are probably the most useful people to you!

The bulkier the packets the driver gives you back, the more bags you'll make up and the more bag drops the driver has to deal with. Are the bag drops on your walk ones where the driver can leave them or ones where he has to meet up with you (to keep the mail secure)?

We have a couple of drivers here that are excellent and a number that are COMPLETE bankers. It often ends up with the lino having to decide which basically means it comes down to who's asking....

The issues for me are that I don't mind taking a largish packet BUT when you have 2/3+ for the same bag it becomes impossible that and at the end of your shift you end up with 5 or 6 of them where you have to spend time ferrying them to a post office.

After 10 years doing bike/walk duties i have moved over and became a driver, i take ANY packets that people ask me to because i understand they can cause problems if you have to 739 them
Shame all drivers didnt have the same attitude
