does anyone know if someone born in 25/08/1955 would be entitled to get there pension at 60 or would they under the new rules have to wait till they are 65 now.
a union member asked me today and i have no idea should i really know this stuff as a sub rep ?

Do you mean your state pension or your RM one ?

Do you mean your state pension or your RM one ?

Your Member can in fact draw his/her Pension now , BUT for taking it early will be hit by a 20% ( 5 % a Year between the age of 55-60 ) cut in benefits due,before 1st April 2010 and an eye watering 45% ( 5% a Year from 55-65 ) for anything after that date.
If the Member waits till 60, they will have no deduction in benefits before April 2010 but a 25 % cut ( 5% from 60-65) for anything after that date ( You can wait till 65 for the CSDB Pension and face no deduction ) ...
