Getting my Duty Prep in for me...

For some reason i have been boxing in another Duty all week and another Postie boxing in mine...The problem being mis-sorts on delivery...If i box the walk in then it's my fault and have to correct it..But where do i stand as far as someone else boxing my walk in for me and mis sorts.....?

if you havn't prepped the walk yourself and theres mis sorts when you get out there...

then just bring them back and endorse them. this covers you... you dont have to back track and deliver the mis sorts after.

I don't think there is a hard and fast a rule such as this. It all depends on your manager but most should look at it sympathetically, however if you have time left to back track then I would suggest that's your best option. Best thing to do before even going out next time is to get a ruling from the rep/manager.

My manager suggests if it's your mistake you correct it, regardless of time!
Not sure what his stance is on other peoples mistakes, must ask him that, I always endorse and send back - regardless of whose mistake it is.

How do you endorse a mis- sort?..Its a hanging offence to take back any mail without proper reason in our office...ie dog at large .no entry and so on.

Same way you endorse a dog out or any other endorsable mail!

Sorry but not in our office...You would get pulled up for that under willful delay..You take it out you must deliver it...Unless it for a totally different walk ..ie.two letters stuck together

If you aren't very familiar with the walk, and the house has no other mail, how do you know that the mis-sort shouldn't have been re-directed?

That's not an issue its my walk i am on about..you have a valid point for someone doing a different delivery for the first time..

The point is there has to be a sensible approach from both parties over missorts.
Would i finish early and take back missorts....no.
Would i go over my time and book 20 mins delivering 4 missorts....no.
Would i try to deliver something that was blatantly important....yes.
Would i spend 15 mins delivering a missorted "sale now on at dfs" leaflet....no.

There is an assumption that when you leave the office you will be able to complete your delivery...but that's all it is...an assumption,if something prevents you from completing...you contact the office and explain why and then it is up to your manager to deal with the problem.
There is no rule that says you MUST complete your delivery...that would be compulsory overtime but you must keep management informed to cover your own back.
