did anyone read his reply in the letters section.,,,a guy was on about payment for d2ds, and said if he had NOT been on deliveries, then obviously he would,ve yes. getting £20 a week for doing nothing, anyone would vote yes. and thus, this being why it was voted in. his reply stated that the £20 delivery supplement was only paid to people working in delivery. can anyone on here verify this. i know of people working in the mail centre who get it, they have nothing whatsoever to do with d2ds.

MC workers don't get it,they get a different supplement,£8 summin i think,they do not get the del supp.

OPG's who are tagged to a delivery office get it though to confuse the issue.

The various supplements have always been referred to as "permanent" including in the BTA agreement itself.

oApril 2010. For Delivery employees a £20.60 pw permanent supplement to basic pay (pro rata for part time employees).

Having said that..other supplements and allowances have previously been described as permanent and have since disappeared.
In my opinion there are only two ways it will go...if it is incorporated into basic pay in a future agreement or it is bought out for a lump sum after privatisation...along with other benefits.

i can remember when i first started in 07, once agreement was made and we came in off the cobbles the DSM and area rep were spouting off about some early shift allowance been guaranteed for life.

Which if once members had read the 07 agreement, was not actually the case. The deal was to look at doing something different with it but if agreement could not be reached it would stay. The 07 agreement moved it onto a reserved rights basis with new recruits not getting ESA, so they when it came to BT2010 were swapping DTD money only for the Delivery supplement were as those employed before 07 agreement would have been swapping ESA as well as DTD money for the supplement. As BT2010 gained a yes vote agreement was given to do something different with ESA.

However .... Take Home pay or earning opportunities are down..... and worse of all the buying power of a postman's wage is markedly down.

I can't fault that Dingo wants to put the Union in a good light as possible, after all that is part of the job description for being a Full Time Release rep, but the Union as a whole should not ignore the feelings and attitudes of ordinary posties and until they recognise and tackle the realities/perceptions on the coal face then the accusation of them being out of touch will always find support among the disenfranchised.

As an aside I understand why Full Time release reps believe they are not out of touch with the ordinary members and perhaps I accept this to a point. But I have yet to hear a position as to why FTR reps should not go back to the floor after a set period, or having to temporarily perform their duty at some point during their term. I would be interested in debating this as I am sure many would.
