Judging by the amount of mail/magazines/catalogue etc we had today it was obvious i was going to go beyond my contracted hours (im 30hrs), so i informed one of the managers i would be working to my time, who responded by telling me what i would be leaving in - which amounted to 15 minutes, my response "no way , im working to my time, this is what im leaving in" so off he toddled. 15 minutes later he informed me the DOM wanted a word in the office with me. Basically he wanted to know why i couldn't complete the walk on such a light day when i've done it on heavier days WTF, it is now the quite period i was informed and shouldn't really be leaving any mail behind .

Now this is just a underhanded tactic i feel to force me to work over, but why me?? there's fookin full timers in the office who don't work their contracted hrs and get top money, why don't the managers target them instead of genuine people who work their contracted hours like me !!

Pro rata this, Pro fookin rata that i've had enough of this corrupt industry, first opportunity of getting out im off, funny thing is i don't mind doing the job if it's a manageable workload it's the psychological bullshit of managers i cannot stand.

All this crap just for wanting to work your contracted hours ......

You're not on full time hours thus they rather ignorantly assume you would want to work overtime to "make up your hours/pay" - it's RM's long term plan of cutting back on staffing costs.

As for not working hours- I'm full time and believe me I've had the same type of s**t when I said I didn't want to work over.. Bullying fuckwits the lot of them!

Yeah, what i mean is, so why target the fookin part - timer who works his contracted hrs, then turn a blind eye to the fookin full timer who doesn't work his contracted hrs but still gets paid full wack for sitting at home.

I aint got a problem with some full timers making time and going home thats there good fortune, what i have got a problem with is being accused of slacking

Managers talk crap mate because they either have to do the cut off themselves or pay overtime which eats into their bonus so they will say anything. When a manager doesn't take enough off me I say fine I will just take it all out and bring back what I can't do, watch them change their tune then.

If everybody is making time then fair enough but when it's only the F/T staff who are benefiting then P/T staff are being blatantly discriminated against by being unfairly targetted by management. I'm sick to the back teeth of the unfairness in this job. Does anyone care? Of course they don't. F*** you Jack I'm alright and pull up the ladder. It's no wonder the Union is in such a shambles when nobody cares about anyone else. It's this total lack of solidarity between colleagues that will be the death knell for the Union.

Unfortunately Royal Mail have won the game. Their strategy to increase part timers and work alongside full timers was engineered to create dissatisfaction between the workers to nullify any chance there may have been of the union and it,s members putting up a strong united front against the changes and move towards privitisation. In a small unit we have 2 full timers, several on 35 hours and newer part timers on 25. The back biting in just a small unit beggars belief, but where there is inequality, frustrations and anger take over, and this is just how RM envisaged taking on the union and treading all over them, and with just a very big helping of senior union officials who are feathering their own nests.
