The planner has arrived!!
Our planner arrived today, wet behind the ears straight from university. he claims that all our deliveries can be done on a 4hour 10mins delivery time, which as postmen we say is not possible, and hes having none of it, are all planners like that? believing what there computer says and disregarding the truth and honesty of experienced men?

ask him what times georoute give to get to our office, once you get an answer tell him he is 8 months late.

Get him to follow you round on your delivery while he carries his laptop. Then he can see for himself - computer say's no.....

In my experience it really is a case of "computer says".
He has a set of tools that he is to use and if he varies from that his bosses will want to know why (and not in a friendly way) so dont expect too much variation from what the laptop says.

First off is the A+. Are all the delivery points correctly mapped.
Terrain. Are hills etc all properly marked. Flats and steps.
Call rate - the number of houses you deliver to on average each day - what figure is he using.
Attendance rate - the number of doors you knock on on average each day.
Walk speeds - what figures are they using.
Unless all the information that goes into his laptop are correct, the outputs will be wrong.
It might be a good idea to engage with your planner, although I don't see how he could have made any such judgement on his first day.

they averaged our to loops at 21 packets a day , we usually get 60+
They dont allow for deadwalking back to the van.
My driver hasnt got a mobile
so I have to wait.
Dont take into consideration doing households.
Planners only interested in getting the office finished so they can get their bonus
