Duty Allocation leave reserve

i am a reserve and have been for about 8 years, but recently i have been not allocated to cover driving duties and the duty has been given to a person with less service than me, i spoke to my DOM about this b4 and he said he would look into it, as expected nothing was done and it has happend again ive been put on a walk and some one with less senority has been given a driving duty to cover. I went to see the manager this moring and be blanked the questions and started to talk about something else. What can i do about this? and can I give them notice to take me off the driving all together, as i knw theres lots of drives off soon and they will need me then but i want to tell thme to ***K *FF now i jus want to do walks and not driving. pls advise me on this.

First things first, unless the driving position filled by the less senior employee is one which requires specific skills which you are unable to perform, the role should be provided to the most senior employee applying for it.

Regardless of whether or not you now want the position it is imperative that you ensure that the correct procedure is implemented. Take the issue immediately to Area if you have no Local Rep or your Local Rep will not or has not dealt with the matter.

i have done that duty lots of times and my local union rep is new to her job and dose not do a very good job at repersenting anyone she hasnt got a clue.

what about the notice am i right in saying i can tell them in writing that i dont want to drive anymore cuz ur messing me around.

Depends, is your contract a 'Postman with occasional driving' contract, cos if it is then no, you can't say you are resigning from driving.............obviously!

I know I've said it once already, but this really is more important that what you want! If you are unable to get your office to uphold the Agreements we have in place now, then things will quickly go down hill.

You haven't a hope in hell of agreeing refusal of driving duties if your Manager and CWU Rep cannot work together in implementing the Agreements we already have in place.

I don't understand why you're having a problem, a duty is a duty and all you have to do is finish at your time.

You signed for reserve duty unless it is a set section reserve ie same 5 walks every week you do the duty your told to do.

Seniority does not come into weekly duty roster its at a manager whim from what i've experienced,pissed off any gaffers lately?

Not sure why you have it like that,anyway at my place we have a reserve list,that is in seniority.
Obviously if a drive comes up and the reserve driver is say 3rd in the list he would get the drive.
Managers don't tell us what duties we're on,the list does.

There is sickness in DO's all the time,having a reserve seniority list makes no difference to the way it should be handled.

Fred is a driver,then a reserve who although has picked a duty will have to be bumped over to Freds.
Fred's job is special,then the reserve trained will have to be bumped over.
Fred's job is a bastard walk,then the walk should be covered the way sickness should be covered,absorption,casual,docket.
Fred's job is the best in the office,see the one above.

I honestly can't see why there couldn't be a list,seems most reserves are treated like s**t and there is no need for it,lazy management and reps?

Dare i mention the aggregate for days off so there is more fairness for long weekends,and the Fred's duty is a Sat off but you're going to get Tues instead?

I'm starting to regret signing for reserve i went for it cos it was full time but its like i'm new starter again and yes no guaranteed saturdays off like everyone else

Then you need to get together with the other reserves and the rep.
Reserve can be a bastard job,but you can help yourselves if you work together.
