Breakdown of delivery process for a part -timer.

If not, then how much time is given to the Part-timer to finish the above & leave d.o for her walk.

Depends on the duty and the hours worked.

I'm part time and usually do everything. Certain duties that I cover have some prep done on certain days, but thats all.

i walk in to a handful of missorts, packets, d2d and redirects to do.

I walk in to a full frame of mail n d2d I mark up the packets do re directions bundle and am on the 25hr

I do 32 hours and do the lot and 1 hour of inward sorting but cut off 4 loops out of 8

In theory on a 22.5 hour contract, I should arrive at my frame with all letters thrown in; D2D thrown in; redirections done; backfacing of letters for each packet... Basically it should be a case of getting any specials; organising them with any recorded in my signature sheet; tie up and go.

In practice, however, things are rather different! Sometimes I arrive to upto ~18" of mail on my frame bench (towards the end of the week); redirections still to be done; backfacing still to be done. It can be the difference between completing within my contract hours and needing o/t or cutting off.

How you view depends upon your agenda, its either an opportunity to increase the likelihood of extra hours (by informing lino that you need extra time), or you follow cut-off procedure asking lino what they want you to do with mail you have no time to deliver...

What should be done and what gets done for part timers on different hrs is pot luck.
Rule of thumb,if you've got time to do it do it,if you haven't,cut off.

Seriously though we had a 20 hour man on a small delivery which he preped himself. Due to housing growth we reorganised some duties and created a new duty made from NEW hours.

All mail should be thrown out, packets should be sorted. Re Di's you'll prob have to do yourself.

That's not reality though. Reality is mail still all over the frame, no D2D's done, 2 sacks of packets to sort, and re di's.

It failed because school mums with part-time jobs want fixed hours and no aggravation.
They do not want to be out delivering an hour after they are supposed to finish and not being able to pick up the kids or arguing every day with a line manager about cutting off.
The job never did suit the "school mums" profile...it failed because it couldn't succeed.

I was on a 20 hour contract. I used to come into a totally empty frame at 0900 and have to sort the lot myself and deliver it over an eleven mile walk.
Hence the past tense!
