Would be interested why people voted for some of the candidates because ive read the election addresses and theres very little detail or anything that shows that they are in touch with members and local reps especially concerning trying to deal with the on going revisions.Generally most of the addresses are couched in vague union rhetoric and more of the same.

I voted Kye Dudd because at least he has had the balls to challenge some of the cosy culture at the top,the 5 day service position
needs to be explained in more detail(job loss issue) but that aside only Kye and maybe Tony Bouch who has highlighted the
piss poor communication within the CWU are worth voting for.

If anybody knows why i should vote for any of the rest please state why because ive no idea what their positions have been in
the past and their election addresses tell me very little about what we should be doing in the present.

It's not my final position...One or two of them are on a shaky peg,i'm not convinced that Kye has the experience but i could be convinced.

Fishtank i presume your voting decisions are based on knowledge of the candidates that is not apparent in the election
addresses.Im just disappointed that nobody stands out in the list and Postmans point that a few of them made more of
B&H in their addresses dosnt fill me with much hope as Ward etc would say the same.

As for the spare place on the PEC you have def got my vote Fishtank!

All of them joined the CWU as soon as their employment started.......with the exception of one.
Kye Dudd started employment relevant to CWU 10/11/03 but didn't join the CWU until 01/05.
Now why would that be?

You're very cynical...i thought that was my job.
I won't hold that against him and to be fair some of them have too much experience...away from the front line,in that respect at least Kye will be aware that there is no second delivery now and that call rates have progressed slightly from the 25% or so of the late 70's/early 80's.

I don't disagree with any of your points. (I never do. No-one ever does)
But why would I vote on to any executive council of the CWU, a man who didn't want to be a member of the CWU for 15 months when he could have been.
Maybe there are good reasons for it. Maybe he was a member of another union. I don't know.
But simply from the information before me now, I wouldn't vote for Kye if his was the only name on the list.

I actually might have more reason to vote for him now. He may be a "road to Damascus" conversion and if so sometimes those that see the light bring more to the Union than those who join as they see it as a way out of working at the coal face.

Facts of the matter are that Kye Dudd was a part time casual worker for that time (working Mon and Tues only most weeks) on data input. Was in some other Union before. We argued for him to have a full-time job and this was eventually agreed although as you can see it took time. Kye joined CWU on his first day in a permanent job and became a Rep soon after.

Don't fret about all that. I'm still out on delivery but at least I got Saturday to look forward to. No wait thatll be nother 4pm day. Thanks to all those jokers to settling for that I'm not impressed. We want our Saturdays of. Vote for Tony, Kye and anyone else who want part of that circus

I'm voting for people described as OPG, with Noel Maclean as my favourite because he describes himself as a Postman.

Maclean describes himself as postman dont make me laugh. when did he last do delivery? Probably done as much keyboard stuff as other lad if truth me known but bet the other lad is better with figures if agreement on longer saturdays is owt to go by

The PEC needs a mixture of fresh faces and experienced hard working dedicated old hands. I'm sure the old hands would respect that as they themselves were once elected to PEC/NEC for the very FIRST time. Its good that we have reps putting themselves forward for senior positions in order to change the things they don't like rather than just being armchair critics, so well done to the virgin nominees. Some of the old hands were once just rank and file mbrs who were challenged to put up or shut up who rose to the challenge and gained the support of their workplace colleagues.

Noel has a superb team of hard working reps in his branch of origin who have to deal with all the crap RML spew out and keep Noel in touch and up to date with what is happening in the D.O's and MC.

The big debate is should senior/national level reps return to the front-line every so often to update their experience of being a day to day worker. That is a debate that should take place in the context of providing the best possible representation to the membership, rather than having a pop at individuals about the amount of time its been since they were a front line CWU mbr and that it effects their judgement in a negative manner.
