Young lad in work s grandad died Sunday,he took Monday off,bravely returned Tuesday to ne told they were changing his day off to the Monday,so he's not going to get his day off this week,......the funeral is Friday,he wants Thursday off to help his dad organise things,but was told,Friday off only,can someone help please,this is sickened me,these Bastards are runnin amok here,its sickening

If arranging a funeral up to one week with pay, which includes the bereavement, arranging the funeral and any other duties (This is for arranging funerals of next of kin or as an executor).
For the death of next of kin and blood relative, (spouse, civil partner, long standing unmarried relationship, child, parent, sibling) up to one week with pay (No additional week is allowed if the person is arranging the funeral).
For a more distant relative e.g. parent in law, grandparent, aunt, uncle- one day with pay.
Discretion for additional time off in exceptional circumstances where care of a dependant is involved, however where prolonged time off is required this might be without pay or from holiday entitlement.

So one day for a grandparent is in line with the guidelines and by changing his day off he doesn't need to take any unpaid leave.
He isn't arranging the funeral.
The question of grandparents is always difficult because some people might be closer to their grandparents than their own parents.
Why doesn't he just take whatever time he needs as sick and should it ever get to a stage 3 he can argue the toss then?

All very well to say this but has he been with RM for at least a year, if not then no sick pay, and to be honest who needs the grief when a loved one has just passed away, a bit of compassion from these axe wielding bastards wouldn't go amiss would it?

All good advice for him though and I'm sure we all agree that we hope it goes well for the lad.

I would suggest if he is on part time ask for 2.5 hours walk for this week so he can come home early for arranging funeral. So he can be home for 12ish and got 10 hours to do it.

When r people on this site gonna realise Rm r scum.... True story, a set of twins in our place bout 14 years ago happened to lose their father.. They made the Dom aware of this, that they would be off for 3 days to organise etc. The Dom said, one of ya r entitled to take three days for organising and the other can have one day, .... Now if that doesn't sum up Rm then nothing else will

Think cousin is a bit closer than parents-in-law but knowing our lot they'll find a way out of paying me!
