I work in subs and our parent office has recieved it's full 2010 agrrement lump sums. They received it this time last year. As per the agreement we all waited in subs to recieve our lum sums as they were supposed to be paid along with the parent office. Finally, in August our union rep deemed to visit us (on an entirely seperate matter) and said we should be getting the lump sum before the end of the year "just in time for Xmas, won't that be nice," were his exact words. Xmas 2010 came and went with no sign of the lump sum.
After over six months of no communication or response to queries we were sent a letter saying that no lump sums would be paid to subs until all 20+ sub offices had had a revision and been signed off. At this point most of us gave up the hope of ever seeing any lump sum payment before privatisation kicked in at which point it would no doubt be consigned to the scrap heap.
Incidentally, our office had already collapsed a duty with no more room for manuever so it didn't look like we were going to even have a "revision" in our 7 duty office.
Despite no lump sum payments being made we were informed two months ago that all full-timers would be changing to 39hr contracts as per the 2010 revision agreement. The rest of us on "part-time" contracts anticipated the wage-rise in next weeks payslip. Needless to say, we were all disappointed- part-timers who got no pay-rise and full-timers who got a pay-cut for simply having to come in 15 minutes later in the morning.
The latest to have been explained to us is that the offices have all been signed off by the union and now await the confirmation from management before payment of the lump sums begins. I won't be holding my breath for that. But here comes the kicker: the area dom has realised that he kicked in the 40 to 39 hr cut too early and doesn't want to pay the back-dated payrise owed to all the part-timers so he is simply going to put all 39hr contracts back up to 40 before the final revision and lump sum payments is resolved. All whilst the union look on with seemingly no problem with it. In a nutshell, we've all been ripped off. Part-timers having to do the extra work in the morning primary sorting whilst those lazy full-timers spend an extra 15 minutes in bed (don't hate me FT'ers I'm kidding) without the payrise. And full timers who could have been paid 40hrs instead of 39 for the last 2 months.
I would like to take this opportunity to thanks all the union top-bods for this wonderful deal and their measures taken to ensure that RM don't use it to simply shaft the workforce.
