Phoning in for specials

We have just been told to phone/text in any specials not delivered, 739 late etc. What is the agreement about this as they will not supply phones. There are some that still dont own a phone or refuse to use there own .Why should we use our own money for this

We have this in our office although i dont think it is really used. On the business cards we are given there is a freephone 0800 number that we can use from landlines. Doesnt help when most people only have mobiles!

Yea this is something the CWU needs to jump on.

I dont use my mobile for work use only personal - insurance reasons.

I dont have a phone box on my delivery and cant go off route.

Manager tells me im being petty but i say 1 text or a phone call a day over a year costs me alot of money. Add this up over a working life and times it by the amount of people who do it wach day and RM have saved an absolute fortune.

I tell manager that if im down for overtime or have told them im claiming extended then theres no need to phone in as only an idiot would assume id be back on time.

Anyway when we all get PDA's this rip off will be history.

This just shows that specials are confirmed by phone before 12 NOT that people finish early.

While I agree that we should be provided with a method of contacting the depot by Royal Mail, just like the pens that are isssued for signatures and 739s, I would have thought that the time taken to text the callers office more than covers the 10p maximum cost of sending the text outside your meal relief allowance? As in we are paid over 14p per minute before tax and it takes at least a minute to compose the text when there are 739ed specials, when all clear just take a minute of worktime to cover the cost.

Used to have to do it before the PDA's came in but I never did. It would have been rare then if I was on a walk I'd not have been back before 1.

I found a message like that on one of my delivery points yesterday, except the customer wanted me to leave a packet at a business about a mile and a half away from her house.
