What happens if, after a resign but before it kicks in, PTs are offered FT duties?

If the hours are there then they get offered the hours it should be done on seniority and if it turns out that you came in at the same time as others in the office it then goes on the entry results of the test that you took,hope that helps.

Why would there be vacant duties after a resign or are you talking about being offered full-time hours as opposed to full-time duties?

We've just had a resign but now they're offering part-timers the chance to be made up to full-time and instead of the part-time duties they signed for they'll be given a full-time duty. This means they part-time duty they signed for will be vacant so shouldn't there really be another resign?

If someone has already picked that duty how can they be bumped off it?
If they are new full-time duties they should at least go up on the board and seniority should apply.
What is the rep up to?

I don't know I heard about this yesterday after work - someone's screwed up somewhere along the line.

- Full-timers offered 'buy down' to part-time
- Office resign for part-time/full-time duites
- Part-timers offered, in order of seniority, to be made up to full-time on full-time duties
- Old part-time duty???

They might have originally picked a duty that someone below them wanted but couldn't so surely everyone should be offered the chance to change?

I would doubt if the business would sanction that in the same unit at the same time.
Buy down,like VR has to come from surplus hours.
Are these maybe temporary full-time posts which would explain why they haven't been offered to the whole office and also why buy downs may have been allowed?

I was wrong in thinking we had had 'buy down' of hours; it was in fact just going part-time without any money for doing so.

As for the part-time duties that will become open again if a part-timer goes full-time they'll be vacancies.

Are you saying that seniority of people starting on the same day is down to entry test results?

As I understand it's just the order in which they were offered the job, hence the first that got telephoned and accepted would be first to get a pay no. and hence be senior.

At least I hope that's right, as I started at on the same day as a dunce and he's one place above me on the list (i'm setting myself up for some comments there aren't I

).

The test is meaningless.
Seniority goes...length of service then any other RM service then date of selection then date of birth....then fight in the car park.

Really?

The resign before last there were 3 of us that joined the same say and we were asked in alphabetical order and I missed out on a duty of my own!
