Lateness

Post by shrimpster »

Hi,

Can anyone tell me the procedure for lateness? A member at our office has been warned about turning up late and then has turned up again only 10mins late this week.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

MANAGERS USE DISCRETION WHEN IT COMES TO THIS, TURNING A BLIND EYE TO 5 MINS HERE OR THERE.
BUT IT CAN BECOME A CONDUCT ISSUE FOR PESISTANT OFFENDERS.

I have only ever once had to deal with a member for lateness.
He lived under a mile from the office and was 20 minutes late every single day.
He went to stage 3 and they were going to sack him until the SOM was told no-one had ever been sacked before he s**t his pants and let him off.
The next day guess what you guessed it he was 20 minutes late so they ignored it until he took evr 2 years ago.
There is a provision in the attendance procedure but its very rarely used.

IT'S NOT USED MUCH I KNOW BUT IT'S BLOODY UNFAIR FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE ALWAYS ON TIME TO SEE PEOPLE WALTZ IN EVERYDAY

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I've only been late twice in 4 years.........1st time did'nt wake up till 8am  set the alarm clock wrong
2nd time came off my scoot, got taken to hossy in ambulance, nasty case of road rash and broken knuckle, picked up 3 hours later by RM van, they had no one to cover my duty  out of the kindness of there hearts they did'nt dock me 3 hours for being late
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Every credit to you k6 - I too am never late. It is a question of personal discipline - in our office there are people who are persistently late and nothing is ever done - if I was a Manager I too would institute a system of both recording and disciplining for lateness.

Take 10 minutes a day five days a week that's almost an hour, add that to the illicit "ciggie" breaks say 2 a day five days a week 6 minutes a time that's another hour. People who arrive on time and don't smoke are therefore being paid less per hour than fag coshing idlers and it is time it was stopped.

there used to be a system where your lateness was recorded and if it hit a certain level in a set time frame you were invited for interview and possible conduct, now they seem happy to see you turn up,i tended to keep any late people behind in the office untill they had worked it back

Late attendance is covered in detail under the conduct code.

There's a world of difference between "covered" by the conduct code and "dealt with" under the conduct code. Personally I think the managers these days are a set of bottlers who'd be better employed in a brewery.

we can all roll in 10 - 15 mins late and still be there before all of the screws anyway

if you're gonna be any later just call a mate, get them to sign the attendance sheet, throw in a handfull of letters for you then tell any screw that asks you're on the potty with the "two bob bits" . . . sneak in the back door and nobody's any the wiser :no no

I think you are a screw trying to get colleagues sacked?I have seen people lose their jobs for doing that in the past.

When someone comes on here saying they have been sacked for forging an attendance signature are you gonna be around to back them up.

Grow up and post something more responsible. :no no :no no :no no
