The planners are just doing a job like everyone else, but its doing the job properly that matters. Planners are meant to get feedback from us posties that know the area, that way the structure of the walks can be planned better. Problem was that the planner thought he could do it himself and did not need any help from us, how wrong was he.
Half the walks in my office had to be re-planned again, but it wasn't the planners that sorted the mess out, but us posties. We had to sit down with a pen & paper and plan the walks the way they were mean to be done, so as it would correspond with both posties finishing at the same time on loops.
About several months ago we had people testing the walks and getting their input on the matter as posties were not finishing the duties on time. Their conclusion was that the walks were too big, loops were too short, and there was also alot of dead walking in some parts. This was the planners doing for walks being too big, loops too short, and dead walking. But no one will take the blame for the shambles been caused.
All this talk of savings will not happen for years to come and its not just one office alone. Royal mail have wasted money on incompetent planners that can't plan.
