When the battery is low? Like all the time?! Pieces of junk.... Those things are an embarrassment i swear! I have seen colour touch screen phones that you can wear on your wrist like a watch, would it really be so hard to buy something half decent? We spend a fortune on vans that make our job slower yet we are forced to use broken tech from the 80's!!!

pda,s are only used by van drivers if you are walking you should still be getting your cards signed, say to
your guvnor you cannot recharge your pda and you would have to fail your priority items due to the time
it takes on your duty.
at the moment the management are trying to put all the registered,tracked,and recordeds letters and packets
on to the drivers as a part of absorbtion no date has been set yet,but the last time this happened everthing failed.
this time they are looking at the drivers going out early with all the priority items then coming back to prepare
the firms,packets and bag drops for walking staff.this will only cause more problems between drivers and walking
staff and when it all goes off where are the managers behind a closed door on the phone.

Half the time the pdas never upload what you've scanned over the wireless (probably via the phone function for those on delivery) and sometimes they don't even upload the stuff when they're sat in the cradle.

...but don't press and hold it otherwise it reboots the software.

When your office has a P&L revision everyone should be using PDA's. Our driving duties take nothing from any walk now, they take a 2.5hr foot delivery and some firms.

take the battery out

If you do that it will have to re-boot each time, which consumes more than you would save, on the keyboard (top right) there is a small yellow button, that turns it on and off, when it's off the charging LED turns blue, to activate it, turn it on (use the little yellow button), press the blue scan button, and tap the screen.
