Agreed rates for the IWT

You may be surprised to learn that nearly 2 years on the rates contained with in the IWT are a closely guarded secret and even the most competent person cannot discover what all the formulas apply to each individual element contained within it. Which unsurprisingly is why the CWU only agreed the use of the tool but 'cannily' never agreed the rates contained in it. I have found thrrough extensive use of the tool as a rough guide you can work out your expected prep time by multiplying total no of items by 11.79. Anything thing else within it is all part of the 'secret' formulas which are used to calculate sort and prep rates. Until such time as all the formulas are easily accesable this remains a 'Could do' tool and will never and should never be allowed to be used as a performance management tool. Only agreed rates are the old 1 minute prep and sort times.

Thanks for the reply jessicarabbit that really has helped a lot. The reason I posted the question in the first place is that a member of staff is being told he has enough time to do his double prep based on the IWT and his saying it can't be done so needed to know that the prep rates so as to go back to DOM, but now will just tell him not going to agree with IWT through puts and if he wants to test the individual to use the 1 minute test.
