FIRST DAY TOMORROW

Hi all, glad i found this forum it's really informative.

I had my induction today and start at my DO tomorrow. I was wondering can anyone tell me what I should wear for my first day, as I haven't had my uniform yet?

Nobody seemed able to answer the question when a few of us asked at the induction???

Can i expect to be out on a walk tomorrow and if so would it be okay to wear trainers? Would it be okay to go in jeans or shorts depending on the weather?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Also, I had to travel 50miles to my induction (this was the closest, they assured me!), and was told that I would be able to claim my petrol money back. Is there a realistic chance of them actually refunding me this?

You should get a hi viz vest on day 1 and thats about it.

As to shoes - trainers as long as they are clean are ok but I would wear ones with a lot of tread (you could be walking between 6 and 9 miles every day) and with plenty of support around the ankle and instep.

Clothes, anything as long as its clean and not to garish. I would not wear Jeans though, too heavy and they soak up the sweat and rain. Trousers and tops need to be light but hard wearing.

As to being out on delivery - depends on the office but I would certainly would plan for it. Even if you are not out on day 1 you will be on day 2.

Yes to the refund - mention it to your trainer if he has done other new starters he will know the local processes.

A smart short knee length/light trouser and a T-shirt/polo shirt should be fine and good pair of footwear. You will be following someone tomorrow and maybe do a little delivery as well. You will need some drink with you and a lightweight raincoat incase it is raining day. Be careful and good luck.

Ask for some boots/shoes they might have some spare in office save you wearing out your own shoes while you wait for your uniform.

You must wear a tu-tu, pink dms and a pair of beadle boppers on your head. Don't worry that's only for the first day!
