Even though no office has to work at 100 Bsi according to Dingo, then why is it that Royal Mail are enforcing this in all offices?

If and when the CWU put in any disagreements over these issues, all you get from the manager is that this is what we have been told to run the figures on and anyone not reaching these times for prep and tie up will be called into the office and asked to explain why not.

Even the office proposals for savings this year due to the fall in mail are based on 100 Bsi for all indoor work and outdoor.

Seems it's back to all the bullying and harassment yet again and noone in CWU HQ has anything to say on the matter.
As for putting in disagreements etc the management are doing what ever they want and local reps dont have a say, it is a joke.

All management can say is, the computer says it can be done so do it or else, or the mail is down (had a heavy week this week) your lucky to have a job.

Why did we go on strike the last time was it not to sort out this type of shite?

Management have introduced about 150 delivery methods revisons most of which have collasped , most were based on un-realistic targets from both IWT and Geo Route revison which were based on 100BSI. No revison as far as I know have been imposed by executive action certainly there have been no requests for industrial action ballots.

Now I totally accept that being a local rep is a lonely unforgiving job , not only have you pressures from your members but pressure from management. Now where I do believe that there should be more support is that area reps / branch`s and divisonal reps should provide more support for local reps ensuring that they do not get pressured into agreeing revisions which they know are not going to work or are going to be totally unacceptable to the members. I know the area reps in my divison do that but whether its done everywhere is unclear. Certainly the good area reps , good branch`s and divisions ensure it does.

But equally do the members do enough to support the local rep ? We all know there are plenty of members who still chase time , thing that they work for themselves and come in early , even absorbtion does not stop them chasing time. Do they support the local rep help him out or do they put pressure on him or not support him. Its an old cliche but the union is only as strong as the indviduals within it and in this case the office is only as strong as the members in it. There are plenty of office throughout the country where management know they have to do more to get a deal. The key point is how do we ensure that the amount of offices like that spread.

Now the conusltation pocess which will happen will identify what really is happening in the units by members and then the union must respond to this.

It is obvious that in a lot of areas management believe that the IWT overrides the individual performance standards agreement.
How difficult would it be to release a joint RM/CWU brief refuting this which would at least give us some ammunition to fight management tactics?
It's not a lot to ask but it would help a great deal.

Ours was set at 85BSI...that was unagreed as well and now they are trying to move the goalposts to an equally unagreed 100BSI.

To be honest this throwing the arms in the air wondering how it happened and blaming the local reps and members(not you PM) is getting a bit old.

Exactly,there is someone at the end of the CWU food chain signing these off.
I am interested though in the possible 150 conversations between the rep,the area rep and anyone else higher who is involved.

I do feel some reps and members are not getting enough info or help on this,but it begs the question,would an area rep/Div and then HQ sanction a ballot for IA because an office threw a strop because the sausages were cold in the canteen.

The DOM has set ours at 80 BSI with a prep rate of 23 items a minute. That includes time for tying up etc
Apparently all agreed by the rep who is now on A/L and failed to let me or anyone else know what hes agreed to, but the DOM has agreed he can f**k off to the gym in duty time!

I have to say, I'm with Dingo on this to some extent. My DSM came back this year and asked for 80Hrs saving with BSI going up from 85% to 100%.
We'll long story short, after being summoned twice to the DSM's Office (80 Miles away) and putting in Disagreements we are now getting 3 FT and 2 PT jobs put in.
It's not been easy but with the help of the Area Rep & Div Rep who have both stood by me and supported me all of the way its been worth it.
On the flip side, there is very little support from my work colleges, still have FT's coming back early, using own cars, over weight bags ect. And guess who they will call a C^*t when they get more lapsing put on them.
This is what really gets on my nerves, Yes we have managed to get jobs put back in but how long will they last if people don't wake up and start doing the job properly.

No not been moved to BSI 100 still on 85. Told DSM no agreement to move up,
As for revision, we haven't had one, just the bullshit IWT revision last year.

I agree with you on the AR and Div rep bit. I am lucky both of mine have been really supportive and helped out when ever asked loads of Phone calls, E-mails ect.
Both came to DSM meetings, and not once did they try and get me to back down. This is the bit i think you were on about.
I did say when i first met up with the Div Rep, can you or AR over rule me and sign stuff off without my office agreeing it, or
is it only us that can agree and sign off , and to be fair to them, they said it was only our office.

bsi has always been in as far as i know. but its now a stick to beat you with. you never win as the continual getting rid of full time posties will mean that 1 day you just cannot do the job. but the management, god bless them not. all they do is say why cant you do the job. to which as you look at a conduct charge of being a lazy git

Hi can anyone shine some light on my problem. It was my day off last friday, i was having a lay-on, as anyone else would do, when at 7:58 am my front door was nearly bust down with thumping on it. I answered the door to find my manager in a rage shouting at me telling me that i was due in work half an hour ago. I explained that it was my day off and that he was out of order coming to my front door, nearly knocking it in, waking the whole house. He stood there shouting at me, using foul language for 5 minutes before saying "well your up now, you can come into work".

I would understand if i was due in work and id slept in, but for it to be my day off and to listen to a load of shite at my front door at 8am is out of order. I'd like to hear what you all have to say about this and what i should do about it.
