One of my work colleages is having his 20 years service at Royal Mail and they have invited him with free admission to Lingfield races with a buffet lunch on a saturday .
All very well but as his cut off time is 2.15pm on saturday and he lives 50 miles away , how the hell can he get there for 1.00pm
All holidays are fully booked and nobody to cover as we have park and loop and got rid of 5 postmen.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
the real qustion is why would you want to celebrate 2o years in the job when i had my 20 years service told them i would not attend there day out as i would rather do something with people i like then some w#### of a manager
You should be given the Saturday off, that's what happen's in our office for these things. We have about 15 people going to this and they all have to be given the day off!!

i refused to go to our long service "do" when i reached 20 years pergutory--sorry "service" and know i am approaching 30 years i will do the same again.
can't stand them at work so why spend time with them outside of work.

I didn't go to my 20 year dinner at local hotel. Why would I want to spend time with people I don't know and a load of managers out for a freebie?
They don't seem to be doing it for 30 years service, at least not in London.

Ok horse racing and me err well no really So i did not go on the the jolly boys outing which seemed more about managers jumping on the band wagon than anything else
One guy did go to the hotel meal a few years back and thought it started well when he and his missus was picked up in a mini bus and taken to a hotel where he was awarded his cert in a frame etc. However come the end of the eve he found out that he had to get a cab home which cost him £50. The managers (who out numbered the posties) and thier partners had all booked a night at the hotel

Me filled with beer, tired and stressed from a long day at work, surrounded by managers...
