Bad Knee

Im abit worried my left knee is constantly aching after about 6 months doing the job, i don't want to cause any long term damage anyone else suffer with bad knees ?

Welcome to the world and problem of being a postie !! Fter 11years in the job both my knees are bad now and with the new rounds - 800 calls on own - 1380 on shared van ! It's only goin to get worse on the knees so my advice is look after your health first as no amount of cash will replace that ! Tell your gp , tell your manager , go to atos do whatever you need to as the workloads now are too much ! I have the same problem with knees and simple tasks that put pressure in knees are awkward now :(

I initially had some knee pain. I cut out as much weight as possible and relied on the bike. I slowed down, I cut out overtime wherever possible. Now I feel more or less fine after a day of work. Although less so today seeing as I came scraping off my own mountain bike on the way home from work.

However. Anti inflammatory medications like ibuprofen or diclofenac may help with any swelling, regular pain meds that can be bought over the counter may help. A trip to the GP may be in order just to make sure your not doing any further damage. Also, if you are always wearing your bag on right shoulder, and have right knee pain, might be an idea to look at the way you carry it :)

Despite the karma thing, good luck with ur knees and hope it's not as serious as it has been for other people, myself included :)

After 25 yrs in the job both my medial collateral ligament and anterior cruciate ligament in my left knee are shot , waiting on an op to sort them , most people in my office with over 20 yrs service have had ops now

i sure have,doctor told me i was very active and fit but i have the knees of a 90 year old man

Yeah get your GP to check your knees as you mightve torn or damaged something .

If so he might recommend time off and physiotherapy then rehab with indoor duties .

Ive had both knees damaged . 1st one last year is now as strong as ever but other one damaged few months back .

GP told me once mended the knee will be as strong as other one .

I asked him if I would be able to play tennis once its mended and he said yes . WOO HOO ! ! ! I couldnt play tennis before the accident ! !

Suppose someone should say that pain is natures way of saying something not right so might be worth looking for another job if it keeps playing up! Royal mail might pay well but disability benefit doesnt!

Pretty much everyone on deliveries in my office has either bad knees or a bad back.... I thought it was compulsory when working for RM, it's managements way of making sure they have squeezed every once of life out of you for your pay packet!
