Hi i think im coming down with shingles? and im not sure about my sick record so if i go into work and they send me home how do i stand with my sick record?

If you go sick, whether you decide or they send you home, it will still go down as an absence. However your rep should be able to to put up a defence around it being a one off and a contagious infection which is very dangerous to women in the early stages of pregnancy. So with this your rep should be able to put up a good defence. hope this helps

you see this is the problem with the company we should not be worried about going sick with such a serious illness we are made to feel guilty for being ill.We all know that somtimes people take the piss,but we should not be tarred with this same brush!I hate calling in sick because you now that they dont really think you are.Bollocks to them when your sick your sick and thats that !
after all we are only a number to them.

SOOOOOOOOOOO VERY SADLY TRUE !! your spot on there !! and the whole system stinks - people need to complain big time on this stupid system - the useless doms should use common sense as some do take the mick and others dont and the problem is also you can have a flu and be off and then something even worse like being rushed in hospital and suddenly your on a warning !! this is a disgrace and anpther reason the job just treats you like dirt - be it 10 yr service or 50 - they couldnt care less about YOU !CLINTEASTWOOD wrote:Hi

Shingles isn't infectious in the same way as chickenpox, where the virus can be passed on to other people through coughs and sneezes. However, the virus can be passed on by direct contact with fluid from shingles blisters, until they dry up and crust over. This can cause chickenpox in people who haven't had chickenpox or the chickenpox (varicella) vaccine. If you have shingles, try to avoid contact with babies, pregnant women and people who have a weakened immune system.
Taken from bupa website, get to GP and get a fit note for a week! Not worth the risk of passing this to any pregnant woman in the office or on the streets :/
