i have an degenerative ongoing medical condition that is covered under the equalities act (formerly DDA). as a result my performance standards both indoors and out are not up to standard. i get quoted by my dom the time it should take to throw off, prep and tie-up my duty , but surely these times are for fully able-bodied employees.
i have struggled on for many months with royal mail only helping when outside influences such as gps, specialists etc suggest that they should. they are now talking about IHR which i can't afford to take. have been referred to ATOS several times but that is basically just continually going around in circles and achieving nothing

Re: performance issues & the equalities act
It's all part of there bullying you out of the door, they will keep sending you to Atos until you get fed up with it or they get a quack to say your too ill to work anymore, and then you will get a manager(if not already) `kindly`having a word with you about how it would be so much better if you would take the IHR as if you end up on a stage 3 you will be sacked and get nothing.
Oh and another thing if you start taking longer at doing your delivery and you eventually have to work indoors as ordered by your specialist the w*****s will turn around and say there are no duties available for you to perform(even though they can find ones for the brownnosers who are not sick just lazy
)and pretend to look for ones elsewhere.
Have you been to see a disability advisor at the Jobcentre?
It's best to get them on the case then you can get Access to work or some other disability specialist to ruffle a few feathers and ask THEM what provisions they are taking to help you remain in work as you know they are supposed to make reasonable adjustments but they are getting away it and the union is turning a blind eye in most cases..lots of going on conferences and discussing things at seminars but very little ACTION!

Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Re: performance issues & the equalities act
If your condition is covered under the DDA then they can't legally sack you.
Contact your Branch Equality Officer, if there is one. My branch had one that was f**king useless, so I ended up doing it myself!
