BANKING HOURS?

told this morning that from now on if we finish early on any day, the time will be deducted off extended claimed earlier in the week.anyone else heard of this

yes , basically you are paid overtime when you have worked your contracted hours .The question is - does contracted hours mean daily or weekly . For instance do you claim overtime after working 40 hours which is what would happen in any other industry ?

Yes - Its not been agreed - They tried to bring in Banking hours but it was never put into any agreement.

Rep should knix it straight away if not then escelate to to Area, Division, Region and HQ in that order.

Each and every working day is judged on its own merits, so if you finish delivering early, it is down to the managers to allocate you work until your contract finish time.

Banking of hours is not permitted by managers, with the exception of a single day per week of "flexibility" in the event of unusual circumstances (which needs your agreement, cannot be enforced) and I'm sure "fishtank" or alike will be along soon to give you a link to a document stating this.

It it was in the contract of employment you may have a point - but it isn't. The problem being without a national agreement it should not happen, an unscruplous manager could say that the weekly contract is 39/40 hours and without safeguards they could ask you to work it in one go. Unlikely and even improbable I'll grant you, but not impossible.

My own view is that everyone should work to their time everyday, if this means you have to cut off or refuse lapsing fine, but if you finish early one day then you should be prepared to be given more work to take you to your time on that day. We should not expect to have it both ways, but its not surprising a lot do.

Those were the days my friend, 41 and half hours by Friday lunch and overtime for the rest of Friday and all day Saturday - no wonder we earned more then, of course the overtime rate was better as well................glad I've got the CWU looking after my interests

there doing this in our office and crossing docket off, but the thing the area rep works (now and again) in our office and doesnt help or support any of the members , does anybody know the div rep for the east , the only way you can check on start and finish times is by clocking on and off.

You work to your time each day. If you go over you book docket. If they refuse you the docket, just work to your contracted hours. Simples.
