giving up seniority to part-timers

We have just been told in our team brief this am, that in our upcoming re-sign, 1 eighth of our walks will be allocated to part-timers who have only been here a few months meaning that fulltimers with about 8 years seniority are not going to get a walk and end up being holiday subs.can they do this, and has it hapened in any other office.On a diffrent note,we had a couple of donuts turn up from head office for a Q&A session, they proceeded to tell us of "she who must be obeyed" plans for royal mail,once they had finished it was our turn,the poor buggers never stood a chance,they left with their tails between their legs informing us that evrything had been noted and would be related back to moira, has any one else come across these jokers?.

That has happened in my DO. Reason is , that the people like me on a 30hr working week cannot be reserves. Because it wont work. The 30hr job means we have to do everything ; so if you have your own walk you have a slight chance during the quieter periods; but no chance any other time , to complete.

I would have found it funny to be a reserve... Would never have completed!!!

Walks shouldn't be made part-time or full-time.
The delivery element should be the same so why would they?
It's just lazy-arsed managers at their best and lazy reps letting them away with it.

This is what i've never understood on here,the PT walks at my place are the same length outside as the FT ones.

Yes, same in my D.O. as others have said its just lazy managers wanting to make life easier for themselves by knowing the same walks will need prepping for the part-timers each day.

same we were told if we cant drive ,that regardless of ure seniority anyone just in the door will climb above you get first pick of jobs, . disgusted .

I've actually just been made full time after 10 years part time i signed for crappy reserve duty just because its full time but i don't mind some hard work.

I could of easily signed for a 32 hour duty in nice area etc i know the score so do you and so do RM.

All walks will never be equal so make good ones part time and bad ones full time,you want an easy round go part time mate its not rocket science.

It's not any kind of science it's nonsense if the whole office is scheduled to leave at the same time and finish at the same time...which it should be.

same in our office we have guys with 12 years who don't have a duty and part timers with a few months who do,seniority is just one more thing we've surrendered.

Ive gone past worrying about it whats the point, all walks are cack not really sure about equal, its easy.........go to work for 8 hours attempt to do all you have been asked to achieve in your time if you cannot cut off or claim the overtime simples....... knowing a family who had two bread winners have just lost there jobs via redundancy and seeing how they are now struggling does not give me any joy in wanting to find out what its like. Long and short is we still have a job at the moment.
