Talks Update

I must firstly say that this is not official but will become common knowledge very soon.
Unless there is a dramatic change around in the next few days we will be resuming our strike very soon.
RM are a f***ing shambles and are so divided between their OWN senior managers its hampering us getting a deal. Many senior managers do NOT want a deal and feel its a climbdown even talking to us.
There has been very little progress on the main issues apart from one. This will not come as a surprise but the CWU are not against later starts and there is an agreement in principle pending us getting a National Agreement on all remaining issues.
From what i can gather the s**t will hit the fan next week and until then our Union will maintain the morale high ground and honour the agreement they signed and will still try to get an agreement.
Get the members ready its not looking good.

This is an absolute disgrace if this is true and just goes to show how much Royal mail really does not value its employees...

But sure we dont really know for sure whats going on behind closed doors do we?? So a possible strike cud resume next week we reckon!! It is going to be neverending this! Mayb we will get a deal, u never know.

Obviously i cannot say who told me this information however they were told this information today by a senior source involved in the talks.
I was in two minds if i should post this because of the blackout but if RM really are not willing to move they are effectively treating their staff with contempt so f**k em.

MOST SENIOR MANAGERS DON'T WANT A DEAL------THEY ARE QUICK ENOUGH TO FILL THEIR FAT CAT WALLETS WITH UN-EARNED BONUS!!!!!

THE UNION UPPER MIGHT MAKE AN AGREEMENT TO LATE STARTS BUT WE DON'T HAVE TO!!

Fair enough mate but lets see what Tuesday 4th brings! I've spoken to a few people in the know and they say the same thing but Meetings with RM are scheduled for Fri/Mon with a PEC on Tues so we'll all know by then! 5 days is a long time in politics!

If RM are still threatening us then we'll go back out on a function basis again. Simple really. If that is the case then lets all save our criticism for after the dispute and get back out on the street. The first day back out there (if we need to go out) will be the defining day. Royal Mail will know that if even their delay tactics can't break us then they're f****d

We can all say we should do this, that or the other. There are 130,000 opinions out there. The job of Ward and the PEC is to reflect general opinion and I think thus far they have done an excellent job. The enemy is Leighton, Crozier, Brown etc. Lets never lose sight of that!

I heard the same - progress on the early shift starts but not much else. No money this year. The PEC is doing a good job but I am not hearing the same about Dave. Looks like the strike will be back on soon unless theres a big change before Tuesday.

I actually totally agree with everything you have said mate.
I for one totally support Dave Bob and all the others in their efforts and trust them to make the right decisions on our behalf before a National vote.

ok so if there is an agreement in principle to later starts, WHY THE FCUK ARE H.Q. SENDING OUT ALL THESE RULE 13 BALLOTS, doesnt make sence to me.

I don't think there will be a deal I hope we are back out again from next week

Because (1) Royal Mail can't be trusted and the union need to cover their backs and (2) the agreement must resolve all issues not just one.

Because the later starts are being forced in during the so called "period of calm" at least they are in my office hence the meeting tomorrow. I think most know, even if they don't want to accept them, that later starts are going to come in, but we don't want Royal Mail to force them in with no union agreement.

IMHO I think that later starts will be a big mistake for RM. If they are having problems covering duties now when we finish around lunch time how many people will want to do a 2nd duty between 2.00 and 5.00pm (not me)

They wiil because many of them race around like nutters and load their cars up with both deliveries.
Later starts wouldn't as bad if the CWU could get a deal for earlier finishes on Saturdays

i suspect the intention here is to alter the uso so that we can cover far more del points per person so no o/t will be needed,less van runs mail in late out later on the streets for hours
