so who has the oldest van in royal mail, or has the most mileage, mine is an 05 plate with 73500 on the clock, i'm sure it will be beaten!!!!

moya greene been round the clock a few times
needs a bit of oiling and likes changing gears
and done more postman than we have had hot dinners.

Morning duty does the run into the missort hub, a bulk delivery and lunchtime collection. Afternoon duty does a collection and run into MC. About 300 miles a day i would guess. I'm sure the MC vans must do way higher mileage than DO vans though.

Ok it's not a van but an 05 DAF85 with nearly 900K on the clock (kilometers that is) works out over 500 000 miles on the road

the dirt, the grease,the fleas - all picked up in usage what we have to put up with on a 10-12 hour shift in the vehicle where we have to take our unpaid breaks................. -another deal of the century put through by Pullinger

Yes, 300 miles x 6 days x 50 weeks x 3 years = 270,000

To all of you van drivers out there, does the mileage take into account the driving which is done, dare i say, for little errands that you do for your own personal use. Ive seen drivers off route driving to and parking at the supermarket to do a bit of shopping, nipping home to see their kids before they go to school, picking up produce from a farm, nipping to their parents house for a cuppa etc. etc. Its a hard life. What i would like to know is how many miles my feet have done being a walking postie

re walking postie, the days are gone for both of us to be taking time out of the job, dare say it still goes on, but not in my office, drivers do all the specials, bags, track and trace, packets, firms and you still think we have time to slope off home.....strewth!!!
