Can you take a raoyal mail van home ?

Hi im going to be starting work soon , just getting my security checks done. i know a few posties who get to keep there vans on a night and take them home. How owuld i go around doing this ? thanks

I doubt they'll give you a van.............at least on your own, but you really don't want to go down that route, too much responsibilty.........too many ways to get sacked, just go into work, do your job, leave your keys/P739s/bags and go home.

They have to put you through the driver change over (easy peasy), then if your the designated driver of that duty that day you can if you have signed to say you will. If you aren't the driver on the day just take a spare van home at the end. Don't listen to people on here that try to put you off stuff, it's your choice mate.

chances are mate you will have to ask your DOM when you start. They will get you booked in and tell you a date, an instructor comes to your DO and ask's you a few questions about the vehicle then takes you out, it's like a mini driving test.

U really only get the van home if your starting early in the morning .

Whats the point giving someone the van home if hes coming in at 8 or 9 ? ? Waste of a van sitting there unused .

If your office has had it's change over every delivery will be using the combi-vans, good luck mate

I am part time 25 hours, I start at 9am mon tues and half 8 wed to fri and half 7 sat. I take the van home all the time. it's not wasting a van cos when I start we are basically only start to pull out anyways. First letter at my DO is half 9 mon to fri, theres no need for the van before I start.

My Contract is 25 Hours Postman With Driving :) So Hopefully i can get a van , i live a few mile from the place il be working and dont have a car yet !! So a couple of months of hard work and overtime and il be able to afford my first car :)
