Meal Relief

I work 24 ou a week which equates to 4 hours 48 mins a day, i sart at 10 am, ive been told my meal relief is 20 mins, which means i finish t 1448 pm. So my question is when i sign on i put my start time as 10am but do i put my finish time as 1448 pm or 1428 pm. Up until now ive been using my own car, but since "flexability" as come in ive started using a bike, as someof the walks if you do themon bikes you wouldnt have timeto do it. Can someone please tell me how much travelling time you are allowed on a bike. Sorry for the big post but i dont get to see anyone as i start solate, and i gather its not very wise to rely on the gaffers words

Your meal relief forms part of your working day so you put 14:48

However the meal relief allowance is not based on hours per week, but hours per day. So if you go over that time by a certain amount you are entitled to a longer meal relief.

As to travel time that should be written into your WalkLog/318 or there should be a local agreement - at our place 15 minutes is the standard.

The reason i asked was because i was using my own car meaning i was basically taking outmy own bags thus freeing up a driver to do other work, and i was getting to the job faster and then returning to the office faster meaning i could do the flexability. I now return to the office at 1430 and just wanted to be clear about the working times in case challenged by the gaffer.

He wont even acknowledge that you are saving them time unfortunately. If I was in your postion I would be taking a break out on delivery somewhere and coming back into the office at finish time. If your duty finishes at 14:48 and you manager want to play the arse he can ask you to do more work to make you finish on time. He can also "reasonably" expect you to have had your break earlier in the day which is why I recommend taking a break either before or during your delivery.


As to using your car, I shall not comment other than to say that I personaly disagree with posties using their own cars for RM, with no recompense to cover the extra costs involved. But ultimately its your choice.

Only one reason why people use their own cars other than being madness it suits them too in my experience.....One of the reasons Delivery Methods probably does not work because walks have been cut in the past by people using private cars and and they have taken the p1ss getting finished early..... Never used my Private Car ....The Army would'nt expect you to use your own rifle !

So why do they issue them as Personal Weapons. Not sure I would be happy using one for real, or on the range, when someone else has been responsible for cleaning and stripping them.
