later start times according to Mark Higson
Noticed a couple of interesting points in the courier on page 10:
Mark Higson has said that the later start times in delivery offices are down to later mail arrivals - good this will give me ammunition to challenge the DOM who is attempting to change our start times even though mail arrival times are not changing and has been finalised.
I think he may also have made a mistake here, he reckons there is less prepping due to WSM.
I am assuming the same number of items still need to be prepped so there is not less prepping.
They keep going on about the mail volumes dropping (bollocks). So in return continuosly increase the size of the duties spouting about savings in delivery when in fact it is only savings in indoor sorting and prepping.
After a few weeks if things are not working we will go out and check out the routes, Yeah right the only answer we get is the computer says it can be done you must be going slow.
'The more you do something the easier it gets', must be talking about the lies RM tell.
Can RM not understand that the only way for a delivery unit to become more efficient and make savings is to ask the people to cut as many corners as possible and break all the agreed procedures.
They want you to give Health and Safety a two fingered salute just to save a few pounds then they sack you for not doing the job right.
In only a couple of short years RM has went from a customer orientated business loved across the country to a profit orientated parasite detested by most.

Not doing very well at the profit making side of it, but can still find money for manager and executive bonuses.

Re: later start times according to Mark Higson
Mark Higson is typical of today's corporate executive. He is a complete and utter w****r, who likes to talk the talk, but when push comes to shove, can never ever walk the walk.
Hot air, flannel, and no obvious sign that he possesses any talent for his executive role. Sums Higson up perfectly.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: later start times according to Mark Higson
"The Courier" has been nothing but a rag for management propaganda and lies for many years now. Items like this will never match reality - e.g. Higson saying "After a few weeks if things are not working we will go out and check out the routes". We know that will never happen. It hasn't for years. It won't change. The question about oversized deliveries has been put to manager before many revisions.
"We'll test any deliveries with problems"
"You said that last time but didn't"
Then you get "Ah but this time it's different, we really need to get things right this time" , which was said to me about 3 revisions ago. They didn't test failing walks. Nor have they since.
Cut out page 10 of the latest issue. Keep it handy when your duty is bolloxed by the planners. Show your managers Higson's quote. See what happens.
I would wager nothing will be done to correct your duty.

Re: later start times according to Mark Higson
Our current arrival times are 0500 & 0700. With walk sequencing this is changing to 0530 for wave 1 manual and mech, 0715 for wave 2 manual and 0740 wave 2 mech. This means the final walk sequenced trays will be in the DO before we are off the IPS and yet they still want us to start later. The proposed start times are 0700 and 0745 on tue and sat from the current 0600 everyday. This means on tue and sat all the mail will already be in the office when we come in and the majority of it will have been sat there doing nothing for over 2 hours

Re: later start times according to Mark Higson
I do find it strange that some offices will have the later start times which does not match the arrival times off the mail.
I also find it strange that offices are letting RM get away with it.
