Uniform cleaning allowance.
Normal should be 0747l so you've got the cleaning allowance.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

No extra £120 - The easiest way to work out your tax allowance per year is to add a 5 onto the Number.mazza111 wrote:an extra £12 in ur pocket each yr =]
So the OPs is allowed to earn £7595 before paying tax on his earnings.
The different letter codes:
Letter = Reason for use
L = For those eligible for the basic Personal Allowance - 747L for the 2011-12 tax year. It is also used for 'emergency' tax codes
P = For people aged 65 to 74 and eligible for the full Personal Allowance
Y = For people aged 75 or over and eligible for the full Personal Allowance
T = If there are any other items we need to review in your tax code, for example the income-related reduction to the Personal Allowance (read more in the section 'Effect on your tax code if your income is above £100,000').
Tax code ‘0T’ means your allowances have been used up or reduced to nil and your income is taxed at the relevant tax rates.
K = When your total allowances are less than your total 'deductions' -
BR = Is used when all your income is taxed at the basic rate - currently 20 per cent (most commonly used for a second job or pension but may also be used if you’ve started a new job, don’t have a form P45 and haven’t completed a form P46 before your first pay day)
D0 = Is used when all your income is taxed at the higher rate of tax - currently 40 per cent (most commonly used for a second job or pension)
D1 = Is used when all your income is taxed at the additional rate of tax – currently 50 per cent (most commonly used for a second job or pension)
NT = Is used when no tax is to be taken from your income or pension

Re: My tax code changed from........
An increase of £120 per year on your tax code means you pay £24 per year less tax - 20% of 120 = 24.
So you are £24 per year better off.
