QUESTION ? one of my members might be facing a gateway investigation over a bullying and harassment claim .manager has said that member might be suspended while this investigation is carried out.
can anybody tell me is this the normal way its dealt with and will he be on full pay while suspended.

depends on the seriousness of the allegation and yes its on full pay

he could be precautionary suspended or moved to another office as a precaution .In some cases the bullied may have to move if it is deemed to be in their interests and they are willing to move .This all depends on the detail of the allegation but i hope the interests of the bullied are considered first and foremost .

For once, I totally agree with you. It IS however, important to provide the alleged Bully with the neccessary information about what's going to happen. And also provide representation, just in case its a false claim (yes, it does happen from time to time). But the priority should always be the victim. Always assume that the victim is genuine, until proven otherwise. Just as the alleged Bully must be presumed innocent, until proven guilty (hence the full pay during suspension).

How's the victim coping postman8?
Is he/she still well enough to attend work?
Is he/she getting plenty of support. Particularly from the Reps?

the person making allegation is a non member and second there are 5 witnesses to say that this person never said a thing he has a reputation for speaking his mind and doing the job properly ie breaking off and many believe he is being set up.
