Early days yet but the Dom standing in at Barrow-in-Furness seems a pretty decent Guy . He communicates with his staff which is a massive step forward and seems to recognise the 2010 agreement . I don't know what is happening regarding our permanent Dom : .

We've got a rest day cover DOM that we see occassionally. He's always been really good but how he would be as a permanent? The previous DOM at my office was apparently good too. But I think the definition of 'good' in my office is 'let's us walk all over him'.

We've got a good DOM at the moment too and one decent acting manager. The other two managers are just cack. Anything to avoid making life harder from them. One just blatantly makes s**t up on the spot.

Hands are tied, you want the good old days back with 2 deliveries and lots of docket for doing nothing where as management want more work within your paid hours. Its a conflict of interest trying to be liked whilst giving a message that is not universally received. A thankless task

We had 3 really good linos recently but 2 were demoted for sticking up for their staff over the OT blackout and summer lapsing The other one is moved around so not to cause too much trouble! Really is shocking that ability to do the job is second to kissing the DOMs a$$ in my DO

My line manager is a decent bloke but I have met some managers who were awful and some who were pretty nasty, but overall I think I have been quite lucky to have worked with some good ones.

Both my dom and my ex lino came from postie stock which does help, a bit

Had a couple of Good Relief Managers last year. Both said they'd be happy to be our Permanent Manager as they considered us a "Good " Office. By that they didn't mean we're a bunch of ass kissing Yes men. MOST of us do a decent days work for our wages and we're pretty flexible and willing to help out when the s**t hits the fan!

It helped that they both took out Duties and actually delivered the mail when we were really stuck. Our Regular DIM has never delivered a duty! Let alone two which one of the Reliefs did! I seem to remember our DIM and his 2IC taking out 1st & 2nd Class Stamped between them ONCE! Much easier to just Lapse them!

Agree with the general consensus that any Manager who sticks up for his Staff and tries to make RM face facts , about the situation in his office, is soon moved on or given the elbow.
