Same debate around the minimum wage I suppose, which also varies depending on age. Something like 3.60 an hour if you're 16.

You say that but we had a 17 year old start at my DO he was still cooerced into taking the same bags as everyone else which are over weight for us to begin with.

Not many new starters last no matter the age! The bag weight rule is supposed to be there to protect growing bodies from serious damage. We had another young lad at my DO who had to leave as management bullied him into working with a bad back causing him permanent damage. Pretty shocking really! Obviously the lino in question has been promoted and the boy is still fighting for compensation

I think it's more a case of they realise the job is s**t and move on as soon as possible.

Thats probably very true! The rest of us just have more grown up things to consider such as bills and kids etc. I know i quit much better jobs then RM when i was younger purely out of boredom!

Without a doubt, the job is never gonna get easier no matter how many years you put into it as a new starter.

Ive been here for a year and 3 months, i would imagine it would take me another 3 years maybe just to get a float section.

that's if they don't show me the door before they have to make me permanent that is

same old problems, and bad bad management, i'm fed up of the place, but they will have to show me the door, not me leave on my own accord.

We have a job ad for posties from the early 70s on one of the noticeboards in our office and the starting rate for under 18s is mentioned on there so they have been doing this for at least 40 years!

They always put 2 little kids on walks together in my office on a saturday. So the wages maybe bad but they don't have to do a lot for it really?
