What happened to my thread?

My thread "What sort of managers are the CWU wasting our money on?" was getting popular but it has disappeared.

My last post was about how my Ops Manager and Area Rep agreed to remove one member from my section without consulting me, the locally elected rep. The story was at the stage where I was asking for the report that was made on the measurement of my section, the raw data used and the operating manual for my section.

For those of you who want to know what happened next, the Ops manager caved in and gave me the information I requested and is now waiting for my counter proposal. Management had no option but to go outside of the IR Framework and sue for peace. They have agreed to hold any further meetings with the Area Rep during my duty time and they will provide me with the same information that they provide to the Area Rep at the same time that they provide him with it.

I would like to thank all the workers in my Unit for their magnificent support. This week has seen the hardest fighting in our struggle to uphold the principle of local democratic representation. We have shown that the new POL IR Framework is unworkable and its withdrawal is inevitable.

This has been an embarrassing episode for the CWU but a victory for Trade Unionism.

As a Moderator I have access to all past threads including deleted ones - and in 2007 you were warned about the level of abuse in your posts, you were given board warning(s) and you ignored them - so eventually you were banned. You may not have agreed with the ban but you certainly were consulted.

As to the thread being deleted - its hasn't its been moved into our Mods area so that we can check some things. Apologies for not advising MinisterofCucumber first I should have done - It was my mistake so Mae culpa.

Hopefully if everything checks out will be back.

The confidentiality clause at the bottom of emails from RMG managers would not override Royal Mail's duty to be transparent and accountable to the public.

RM is still owned by the British public and I feel it is my public duty to blow the whistle on managers that try to bypass a democratically elected rep.

Our Union is not a public body and so can hide behind confidentiality clauses. However, it would not look good for the CWU to take legal action to close down RMC because the behaviour of one of their policy advisors has been exposed.

It is also in the interest of fair trade to make potential buyers of RM aware of the sort of managers they will be taking on.

And tbf in one of your emails it says...

Secondly, when sending inter-Union emails into this department, please refrain from copying in management, as it is not appropriate for internal Union issues to be brought to the attention of managers.

A summary of what you're going through fair enough,a bit like the 1st post in this thread.Not what was in the last thread.

I didn't copy in management on internal Union issues.

I was informed of an agreement after the deadline for consultation. The document I was sent had four names on it ready for signing. I wrote a joint email to the four (two union, two management) to stop them from signing until my members had had a chance to respond. My action resulted in the deadline being extended and we were able to point out that an Admin PO duty was being created in another centre but the same work in our centre was to be carried out by PAs.

We are waiting confirmation that an Admin PO duty will be created in our centre.

I believe that exposing a patronising email from a Policy Advisor in HQ is the best way to stop HQ patronising us. Conference has rejected 'command and control' in favour of industrial democracy. HQ should set an example.
