my day off today,was taking my daughter to nursury with my wife in the car as well,going down a main road and saw a postie RUNNING FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE,i nearly swerved off the road,i wound my window down and shouted your not on enough money to do that you stupid moron,he just ignored me surprise surprise,probably wanted to get back to give the DOM a little treat.he was from an office near mine not my office thank god.WHAT IS THIS JOB COMEING TO ?

Its thanks to the runners we are in this mess - they are all running in our office and have now made us old hands look like we are no longer up to it , when I say old I mean senior to these idiots and realiable hardworkers !! I feel very let down as the job is too much now - the park and loops are 1380 calls and frilly jobs (hct) about 800 - it's too much and its made me ill :( help please

we have a guy at our office who broke his ankle last chritmas whilst sprinting round and he still carried on and finished his round, what a complete hero.

I shouldn't worry too much , probably somebody in his office had said the 21st of June would be the longest day of the year

The unbelievable part of this is that Royal Mail actually allow people to run on deliveries. Is this not an health and safety issue, not only to the runner but even more so to the general public especially small children. If he hits a child running at 15 mile an hour and the child gets knocked over and suffers brain damage or death, Royal Mail will wash their hands of the situation. This is proposterous, so common Moya if you are watching, get your act together and stop these runners causing a nuisance to the public, and making the lives of other postman unbearable due to their total lack of consideration and doing the job properly.

You talk about 'allowing' people to run on deliveries, but the fact is that when you're out on your own you make your own choices. If you make bad choices then that's your own problem, nobody should need to be told what is and isn't good for them - if somebody needs to be reminded not to run then they're a bit stupid. Although I myself did break into a trot last week when I'd just finished my last bag and it started hammering it down!

I think what you have to realise is that not every office has had a revision. We are still basically still on "job and finish" albeit with about 20 calls lapsing on the end. The job is still manageable within our time, OT is still handed out for S/L, which people do because they know with a bit of effort they can still "ghost it" so as all duties get covered there is no chance of being asked to do extra if you get back early. I dont condone running around a duty (AND PERSONALLY DONT) but untill things change, its like the old days with a "carrot" of the early finish if you make the extra effort.
