Question for CWU Rep

Post by betrayed »

I hope a Rep will be able to answer this and give me some advice.

It is about who can take out a GRIEVANCE. If person A witnesses the behaviour of manager B toward their workmate C and is annoyed but essentially agrieved, can person A take out a grievance against B?

Also, if A does this then the manager B holds a meeting with A is C required to attend this meeting? Or other meetings if a solution is not reached?

Sorry about the ABC thing but that was the easiest way I could think to describe it.

I hope someone out there can help me! Thanks.

If the grievance is against manager B then manager B should not be holding a meeting with person A. It should be dealt with by someone independent of the office.

To answer the other part of the question, during diversity training we were told that if you see something being done to another workmate that offends, annoys or upsets you then you can report it. Workmate C may be too scared to report the incident.

PS I'm not a rep, so maybe i shouldn't have answered this.

oops

answer to 1st sentence would be C needs to take out the grievence but A would be the material witness. no further meeting with that person B is required as an independent Manager will be allocated to the grievance if not happy with person appointed you can appeal their appointment and ask for an outside manager of substantial grade as advised by the Area rep. He will help you 110% in this one or your Branch secretary will help you. all this providing you are affiliated to CWU :Very Happy
