Another example of just not paying attention

Post by calpsy »

Started back work Monday on rehab for my damaged knee and shoulder . Everything goin good and manager treating me well :nana

Anyway was put in callers office for a couple hours . Only event was this ............

Guy comes in and hands me a HERMES card .

EH ? ? ? U serious ? ? :left:

As it was my first ever time in the office I wasnt sure if there was an agreement with HERMES but common sense told me DONT BE SO FKIN DAFT ! ! !

SO I look at the card and the HERMES guy had put an x next to other for place left and in the blank space he had written INSIDE WELLINGTONS .

I told the guy his item was inside wellingtons . He then proceeds to ask ............. " Wheres that " ? OH COME ON ! ! ! ! !

Do you have a pair of wellies outside your door I ask and he say YES ! ! in amazement and his eyes light up . WELL THEYRE IN YER WELLIES ! ! ! ! :left:

He walks away without a thanks or any other word . Idiot .

Given the bloke's lack of manners, it's a pity you didn't give him directions to the nearest branch of Boots. If he's that thick, he might seriously have asked them if they'd seen his package !!!

Pretty decadent terminology though. One must always judge the character and intelligence of one's customers and utilise vocabulary accordingly. In this case, the courier picked a term ill befitting the individual - which serves to illustrate that communication is a two-way thing, and that 'getting your message across' is an art in itself. Me, I'd have put 'it's in your bloody welly boots you tw@t'. But that's just me, and 'you tw@t' is something I call all my customers.

That's a regular occurrence in the RLE I'm afraid. They hand you those BT addressed mail shot things too because they look like a P739. And cards from Parcelforce, HDNL, DHL... And then they ask YOU where it is. I used to reply "Well, according to what they've written on this card it's..."

And as you said, no please/thank you/kiss me bum... nothing.

MY parting words to him were " All the info I gave you was actually on the card all the time " but I think he decided he was A . Too embarrassed or B . Just an ignorant cnut .

Oh the joys working the room of doom .

When i worked in Callers it was a regular occurance. Had cards with 'packet in shed' written clearly across the 739 but they still come in and try to collect. I love it when you get other couriers cards and try to explain to people that their parcel is 20/30 miles away with no direct public transport.
I've had people come in wanting DWP Social Fund loans and to charge their electric keys/gas cards.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

I had one guy coming in asking where the local fishing spots were. This is a delivery office, not an information desk! You've dragged me away from the mountain of work I've got to do to ask me about fuggin fishing spots?! I couldn't help him anyway, I was covering another office and didn't know the area haha

I used to hand the card back and say "nothing to do with us" why should we lift a finger to help the competition?

Problem we had was swapping vans around different offices. People kept coming into our callers office with a 739 from the office about 15 miles away!

You've guessed it the driver had picked up a 739 from the glove compartment and filled it in as usual, the trouble was it wasn't his office's van and the cards belonged to the neighbouring DO! :dance

You'd have thought the customers would have smelt a rat and rung, before they traveled all the way over. :hmmmm I now check the address on the back before I fill them in. Just in case! :Very Happy

Aint that the truth :left:

Had a really wound up customer come in once at about 6pm claiming she had waited all day for a re-delivery

She was spitting teeth and really losing it big time. So i ask her the address thinking that we have messed up and she (with great effect) slams the docket on the counter. A quick glance shows me is yellow and is City Link :Very Happy .

So i stand there for a moment then quitely say "sorry but can you read". She goes balistic :Very Happy Then i say "sorry iam not being rude but i need to ask" Then (slowly) pointing to the top of the card i say "could you read that please" She looks down and through tight teeth spits "CITY LINK" :Applause But still in her built up anger the penny has not dropped so i point to a RM poster on the wall and say " now what does that say ?". She turns sharply and then starts to read it in a kind of slow motion "Royaaaal errrrr Maiiiii" . Quickly without another word she grabs the card and storms out :nana

I shout "have a nice evening" as the door slams :Applause
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Only 15 miles? My old DO's area was bigger than that anyway... Try someone travelling practically all the way down the North Wales coast from mid Anglesey to pick something up! We'd had a service van and our dockets were left inside. Some plonker on Anglesey using the van used one of our dockets and the silly customer didn't even think to check.
