ARE we in Angmering unique in Sussex in having, within my recollection, the worst postal deliveries since the last war?

Deliveries are seldom seen before 1.45pm. Letters posted first class, even within Sussex, seldom arrive the next day.

Last week, two letters posted first class on different days in Brighton took six – yes, six – days to arrive!

What is the problem? Will it be sorted out? Will it get worse?

they are failing every day,too much work and not enough posties.10 off sick out of a workforce of 100 odd, 12 on holiday and all we get from management is can you sort for longer,stay out and complete etc.doing park and loop and cutting off almost daily !!!the sickness is mostly due to back or foot related injuries,a sign of things to come methinks

Thanks Guys.This is what I had heard throu the grapevine.It makes you wonder how long they will go on like this.Shaun,what you have said is reinforcing my belief that postman with knackered knees backs ankles and hips will be after compensation a few years down the line.

when they do revision they use the lightest weeks of the year as the model week (weeks 11-17). so deliveries are only likely to be completed on time durring the summer months,the rest of the year we are expected to flex up,

Well Jock all i can say to that is if its a mess now what the feck will it be like from say September onwards? Heres a thought for eveyone.If we had all used trolleys and HCTs for the last 50 years and someone had recently invented the bycycle would Royal Mail be singin g it praises and introducing them thro out the country? Makes you wonder eh?

SEPTEMBER ONWARDS WILL BE A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE ,doing a del on a bike ,thats a good idea we could get round a lot faster and it would keep us fit ,instead of driving around and using s**t loads of fuel at £1.40 a litre , you should suggest it to you dom scooby . you my well be nighted for coming up with the answer to all our problems

Well modesty prevents me from boasting but er well if you insist Joking aside most of the guys I work with think all that was needed was to keep our bikes and make the deliveries bigger.Ok some duties would have got the chop but most of us accept this.We have no shortage of bag drops in our area and largely speaking things were goin well

IMO Management could have dealt with the increase in Packets quite easily. On the cycle duties they would have just had to add more bags to the existing system. Our bag drops were also adequate, obviously developed over many years! Instead of 1 bag of mail you'd have had 2 bags of mail with packets.

The main problem was the Posties! Many in our Office still worked on the old system that they didn't deliver packets. Never mind "Nothing Larger than a Shoe Box", I've seen them bundle up 4 DVD packets and throw them out for Van Delivery! Due to their In-Flexibility they bought about their own doom. Now they've lost their bikes for good and their on a van share using a LWT. If they're really unlucky they've got a HCT!

Not saying everyone was anti-change, or that ALL cycle duties could have coped, but we could have given it a go before this major balls up.!

I don't know about a few years down the line.............we've had several go down with knees, back, feet since November last year and some have resigned.
