Where do you stand with informing a manager prior to delivery that you feel you'll not be able to complete and the reply from the manager is 'drop any mail you need to, to complete apart from dated' ?

Read the Previous post about, "Manager not accepting that you're cutting off", it covers most points plus some links.

It's one of those little ironies that exist in Royal Fail, if you take it upon yourself to leave a load of Mailsort it's "Willful Delay"(and you can get the sack) BUT if your Manager says you can leave a load of Mailsort then it's "Streaming" (and he gets a pat on the back for coping)

I'd get that "dated mail" point clarified if I was you though. The Managers normally only take 1st & 2nd Class Stamped mail when they're sometimes forced out into the big bad world. However if you're cutting off I presume you're just going to be leaving the last bag or two. If your Manager is then asking you to take the dated mail for those last two bags it seems to defeat the point. You might end up having to go to a Top Floor Flat with just a 1st Class Letter. I expect he's just trying to squeeze that last little bit of work out of you! If he only wants you to take the Stamped Mail = Result! Good Luck Mike.

Dear Colleagues,

During the recent ADR briefings the subject of ‘Streaming or Skimming’ of mail was raised by a number of reps and subsequently raised by me at the NDG. Royal Mail’s response was that they were unaware of it and it was only anecdotal, they needed firmer ‘evidence’. Therefore could reps please supply the dept via email with any instances where this has occurred or is occurring, naming the office and the manager of the office and how frequently this has occurred, and how the streaming actually occurs. In some cases the decision of what not to deliver has been left to OPGs which in itself is unacceptable. In other instances it forms part of absorption/lapsing where an OPG is taken off a delivery to allow others to absorb the delivery by only delivering the 1c and leaving everything else in the frame.
Your urgent attention and response to this request would be greatly appreciated.

If your office has to stream/skim/leave out s**t on a regular basis then flag it to your branch who should then flag it higher.

its a point still up debate in my opinion. The Manager has affected U.S.O. if they stream mail so its a traffic volume failure which I should imagine the DSM will ask him why. Its happened at our office and the Manager briefed us that he had contacted the DSM ...Not sure we believe him however its one for the Rep to raise first in the resource meeting . Our Rep could not raise a smile never mind a point...
