I notice one of the questions is "are the absences due to a hospital operation?"

Does anyone know what RM's procedure or rules are regarding issuing stages triggered by hospital ops?

I'm not long back at work having been off long enough to trigger a stage warning due to complications surrounding my surgery. Line manager has had formal interview with me and i get the feeling he will try and issue the stage warning. I would love to see some RM documentation regarding surgery sick absences.

I have had 3 op's on my knee ( AOD ) god knows how many months off sick Plus Hos & Doc's appointments. I had 2 Doc's last week, 1 docs yesterday and i have another next Friday.
Plus i have had time off for appointments with ATOS and DWP and to see the Solicitor about am AOD, and i have not been issued any stages at all.No one in my Office is given a stage for hospital appointments or Operations.
I even went in 2 weeks ago and got someone 3 days special leave paid because there little one was very ill, I don't understand why it is so different form area to area office to office.
Also if you were issued a stage you need to get on to your AR and ask him what the F*&K is going on, especially as it was an AOD.

Saw the AR yesterday, did 'nt think to ask. Will ask him about it next time hes in the office. I've always made sure all my out-patient appointments have been in my own time, consultants, physios, GP,ATOS etc. Looks like my managers have been taking the piss out of me

Don't let the AR palm you off with oh well it's done now.Get him to fight to have the Stages removed.
And i have never had any of my appointments in my time, My view is i got hurt doing what RM asked and am still in pain 3 years down the line through no fault of my own,
So there is no way i am going to lose my free time going to appointments.

My surgery was not down to an AOD, but i would like to see something in writing that states that sick absences due to surgery should not count towards stages. The document above suggests that they shouldn't, in the way that it asks the question, but it doesn't specify wether a stage should be issued or not. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Don't want to be a kill joy but where did this doc come from ?? who wrote it? what national agreement is this from??
Any advice would be helpful, as going through some problems at the present time.

I dont think it forms any part of an agreement. Its just meant as additional advice and guidance for when they are in attendance (stage) interviews.

It is for the local managers to decide if a stage warning is warranted. Some seem to not belive in the concept of mitigating circumstances whilst others do.
